Some of the older series are worth a look too

Budgie - really is like going back in time.
Frank Ross is Out - Tom Bell in 70s crime drama.
Prospects - like Minder without the punch ups.
Hill Street Blues still stands up. Mostly.
Callan - still down and dirty.
The Sandbaggers - largely office bound spy series which worked surprisingly well.
Larry Sanders Show - still funny.
Not strictly a box set but Law and Order - The G.F.Newman original version. One story told from four perspectives is very good.

Husband loved The Fall - (and Gillian Anderson who stars in it):

"The psychological thriller examines the lives of two hunters -- one is a serial killer who preys on victims in and around Belfast, Northern Ireland, and the other is a female detective drafted from the London Metropolitan Police to catch him. The local authorities have no suspects and no experience with cases involving sexually motivated serial killers; DSI Stella Gibson has. She heads a task force dedicated to solving the crime spree, with a simple motto: Anyone not part of the solution is part of the problem. The killer? He's Paul Spector, a father and a husband leading a double life, as viewers learn from the outset. He's hiding in plain sight, the protagonist in a cat and mouse game that is every police officer's worst nightmare."

Some proper telly there Casual. Breaking Bad has to be top of my list.

The Wire is well worth checking out too.

Finally got round to getting The Wire last year on dvd. Booked a week off work and binged it hard.

Have just bought The Corner on dvd which is the prequel and focuses on a younger De-Andre and his family.

Unlike The Wire it's a short miniseries, about six & half hours so that'll be burned through tomorrow.

Quality!

The Pacific was awesome too.

I enjoy the Vikings but prefer The Last Kingdom.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is a very good spin off of Marvel.

The Corner is quite heartbreaking. It adds another dimension to the usual drug problem dramas.

I didn't bother watching the first three series but got caught up in all the hype so bought the DVDs of the first three to watch.

I have an expensive sound system and the difference between the sound on the DVD and the highly compressed sound from Sky is phenomenal as it really does bring Westeros to life.

PS I built my AV system up several years ago when I was an avid film watcher whereas nowadays I tend to just fall asleep in front of the screen

The sound on SKY is scandalously poor. Amazon and Netflix are far better through a stick and a disc far superior. Bloody SKY Q box is a nightmare with my Denon AVR.

I watched the first dozen or so episodes until it became obvious that they were just spinning it out as long as possible by never asking the right questions of the right people at the right time so I gave up

I loved every minute of it, especially Evangeline Lilly.

It wasn't meant to stand up to too much scrutiny.

I once met Adam Faith when he was in that.

I like a bit of old TV but it does make you realise how good new TV is.

Recently I have been watching a bit of Starsky and Hutch which I can only describe as entertainingly dreadful.

Yes, and in retrospect they did spend a lot of time gazing adoringly at each other.

I read the book years ago so vaguely remember it being mainly based around the parents and their habit.

A decent box set makes up for lack of exciting football at this time of year.
