Byram for 750k and Delph for 8m. Sensible signings are out there but can we find any.

"We will have to do the best we can to make sure we replace [Wan-Bissaka] in some way."

Bl00dy better do. That is the absolute minimum, then a forward on loan, although don’t hold your breath for a regular scorer.

It's open to interpretation but I took it as him saying we will get a right back in but don't expect them to be of AWB's standard because he was that good.

The worry is, if you were to take a snapshot of every squad in the league at the moment, you'd have to put us as major relegation candidates. The next month is going to be huge for us as we clearly need 2 full backs, a striker and another wide player.

At the moment I think relegation is between Sheff U, Newcastle, BHA, Norwich, Villa and us. Four decent signings and all of a sudden we're looking up rather than down.

We won’t be buying a left back and I doubt a winger.

It’ll be a right back permanently and a forward on loan and maybe one other in whichever position the best loan who is available to us.

Every club says they’re 3 players short. 4 players is almost half of your outfield players, huge transfer fees, then wages and a lot of money amortised over 4 seasons.

The owners are hanging in there by having Roy and operating close to the minimum in addition to the high wages already being paid because 1) some of the owners are ‘owed’ money and 2) the club is up for sale.

My 3 concerns are

No new right back
No forward on loan with little from Benteke or Wickham
Wilf getting injured

I’m also concerned about there being little happening through the middle but I know we can’t afford it or address it until we scout one successfully on the cheap or Wilf is sold. No point thinking without finances included in your thoughts or it’ll delude or upset you when you’re inevitable disappointment.

Trippier going for a rumoured £20 million. He's not brilliant but for £20 million! We might not have had a chance to sign him but why aren't we at least trying?

We're not trying because we are saving on wage bills. Buying late in the window saves a couple of million.

Guess it’s kind of like trying to pull a cat walk model when your signing on. Why waste ya time

Not going for Trippier cause he has offers from the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus and wouldn't come here.

Also, Byram has been injured for a full year and beeds to play in a lower division to get playing time again.

And 8 million for Delph at his age is way too much.

The transfer fee is not that big for Everton and they have got an experienced international and a leader who can play in more than one position.

Surely costs you in additional transfer/agent fees and players are then in a powerful position ?

Ok, willo, I get what you're saying.

But please tell me who's the better deal: 28 year old free agent Lewis Holtby or 8 million injury prone Delph??

Ok, Delph can cover at left back, which Holtby can't. But Holtby can also cover as attacking midfielder, right wing, left wing.
