Come on he's done a lot more than that. That's what Parish Said about Warnock before we sacked him and brought in Pardew.

He's been immense for Palace, and all without any sort of investment in the squad.
Imagine if he had the 40 million to spend like Allardyce in one window?

He has his style of play and sticks to it, because we don't have the players to play another way, we played a lot more possession based football, especially at home, when we had Cabaye and Loftus-Cheek.

We've replaced them with Meyer and McCarthy, who unfortunately haven't produced what we hoped they could.

I love having Roy in charge, we are a solid premiership side, who next season won't get relegated, when he leaves.......well we've all seen what's happened to them clown's down the road.

The no investment in the squad is a bit of a red herring. We have made 2 big money signings recently and not really got any real value from them, Benteke a shadow of the player in his first season and Sakho who seems injured most of the time. They both get big wages and are a drain on our finances.
Since Roy arrived, Guita, Cahill, Kouyate and Ayew have joined and a fixture every week in the first team.
Roy seems to get the best out of players, that fit into his system, not necessarily big money players.
I doubt this summer there will be a pleather of new signings with the fall out of Covid 19. A few from cash strapped Championship clubs seems more likely.

Exactly. We've still got that £40m BFS spent as Luca, Schlupp, and PVA are still at the club.

In his first season, he arguably had the best squad we've ever had.

I would say that Sam did some of the best transfer business of any recent Palace manager. Those three have all been important for us long after he left. (I'd argue that perhaps Neil Warnock did one of the best bits of business in signing the original Jimmy Mac, but that's besides the point!)

Hodgson has done a sterling job of getting the most out of the players he inherited. Questions will be asked about some players, like why Schlupp always gets a game, or why Sorloth did so well in Turkey, but no manager is 100% successful all the time with every player. Roy's built a solid, reliable team. No-one looks at us as "easy prey" any more and even if we're not setting the world alight, I need only to remind you of Stoke City, who wanted to be more exciting and adventurous, so they brought in Mark Hughes and sunk like a stone. The grass is not always greener, and in their case, it turned out that is mostly moss and weeds anyway.

Roy didn't sign those players... he had a shoe string in comparison... that's my whole point... he has come in, steadied the ship, we aren't rocky... we aren't looking over our shoulder... therefor he should be allowed to spend the kind of money pardew and BFS had. He should be allowed to assemble his squad to push on, see what Roy really can do.

The ship was in 'Pitchy seas' when he arrived with 4 straight defeats in the opening 4 games and no goals scored.
Portholes were glugging and bilge pumps were working overtime.

I truly feel that Parish needs to give Roy a decent budget this summer and say, this season is about progress and direction.

Roy has steadied the ship, on a shoe string in comparison.

We need to now push on and follow a new direction, spearheaded by Roy. So that next summer, his replacement can carry on the momentum.

Roy deserves 60 mil to get some young blood in the task of appointing his successor.

Yes, be interesting to see what he could achieve with that kind of money....no harm in dreaming !

As we have seen Money spent on players does not equate to success. I am sure Steve values Roy and Dougie's knowledge but I far happier to hear we are spending money bringing on youth through are own academy.

Parish for his insistence on keeping Palace old boys around and Freedman for catastrophically failing time and time again in his job of recruitement. He manages to pull the wool over many peoples eyes with the odd wonder find (Bolasie, Jedinak, Olise) but never manages to find someone at a pivotal moment. Below is a list of crucial midfield players that either departed or got too old to play their role, and the replacement Freedman lined up for them;
Cabaye - None
Kouyate - None
Jedinak - None
Milivojevic - None
RLC - None
McArthur - None
Gallagher - None

Our strikers aren't getting any shots on target because the recruiter of talent isn't recruiting. Not because of managerial issues, not because "they couldn't score in a brothel". Because the DoF isn't doing his job.
