Hearing from inside sources that Maine, Maple & Wisbech are chained to the Selhurst Park gates wearing nothing but Adidas jockstraps, they also have Dan H there with a fold up table with pre made milkshakes so that if anyone approaches them they have a defacto means of defending themselves. Dan H has informed me he won't wear Adidas as it makes his scrotum itch so is sporting a New Balance one.............

Throw down some sand and there could be a Wilson, Keppel & Betty routine.

Presumably DanH would be the one with the tin mug collecting donations from the crowd?

Went to a fascinating talk by a high profile sports lawyer speaking about anti-doping who said the corporates, especially Nike, have a huge role in promoting drugs culture in sport by funding their dirty athletes massively expensive legal campaigns, often successfully. If the story becomes too damaging they then dump the athlete but she suggested they paid a substantial amount of Lance Armstrong’s legal fees before dumping him. If we start putting every corporate under the microscope we’re going to have to make our own kits...

Yep, criticism of corporations are often valid and we get to talk about it.

That said, if we turn football clubs into political extensions then where does that stop? Football is already too political when it should be an escape for people.

Yes he does, albeit ethical rather than policital. And your point is?

Presumably you don't agree with 'shaming' organisations, for example that don't pay their taxes or use child labour. Leave it to the free market? Not my problem?

And stop with this 'if you criticise the Israeli regime you are racist', it's simple spin.

And one people like you use all the time.

Live by the sword...

How interesting. It doesn't surprise me if true though. Until these things come to light sponsors would benefit from doping. That and I'm sure it's rife in some sports anyway. Clearly in boxing and sprint based events.

There’s a YouTube clip of Dorian Yates (6 x Mr Olympia who started the trend for “mass monsters”) talking to Joe Rogan in which he suggests the complicity of sports governing bodies in competitors using PEDs. They don’t want to see records lasting for years because their participants are competing “clean” and he willingly admits using steroids and other drugs in his time, although not to the degree being used now. Obviously it’s more dangerous in bodybuilding where other things like growth hormones, insulin and diruretics are also regularly used.
It’s a very long interview but interesting to anyone who’s ever done any gym work.

I'm be sure to check that out, thanks for the suggestion. I can see how this could come about though. A kind of nod and a wink because they know it would damage the sport if they clamped down on it, and that it's more impressive when people dope, both aesthetically and achievement wise.

It’s the Joe Rogan Experience #989. It’s very long though! He also mentions marathon runners dying young due to an excess of free radicals.
