And he is no snowflake or mummies boy.

When someone attends an interview at least give them a response? Especially as they have spent time and effort to attend, employers are quick to complain When people don't turn up for interviews, if there was a shortage of candidates there attitudes would be so much different.

Maybe he's just not as smart as Mummy thought..

Charming, I’d hate to work for you if that’s your attitude

Happened to my kid a couple months ago.
More worthy worries in the world.
Perchance it wasnt an engineering company in gillingham named the same as the original Britons before we became Anglo was it?

Unfortunately, it happens to people of all ages, not just youngsters ... put it down to experience and move on to the next interview. He may have to take a few knock backs on the way but undoubtedly, he'll come good in the end.

Really? I would argue it’s most helpful.

Can’t see the point fretting over this myself. Looks like he hasn’t got the job so move on and focus on the next one.

Unfortunately life has changed. Courtesy rejection letters are a thing of the past.

Now i know the other reason you got barred from mumsnet Tom.

I've had three interviews this year.

The first company, would not even discuss the outcome of the interview with the recruiter that I went through !

The second was a direct application. I had the interview, the interviewer asked me to Linkin with him and I felt reasonably confident that I may get at least a second interview. Three weeks later - nothing. In the end I messaged him and he replied that they were still looking and thanks for my interest.

The third, interview went well and was told I would be invited back for a second. It was 3 MONTHS before I was told I hadn't got the job and only then because I fired off a pissy e mail to them.

My conclusion is that employers and hiring managers no longer respect candidates.

I had an interview in January.... I went no comment, got bailed for 5 weeks and then no further auctioned due to lack of evidence... The interviewees were very pleasant and even let me stay with them for 16 hours which was nice....

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

My rule is never follow up as a candidate, they know where to find you.

I tried the follow up a few times and it always came to naught. Better for my confidence to just move on. Plus it’s funny to bin them off when they (very occasionally) phone you up 3 months later vaguely expressing an interest.

My son has had an interview, and has had no response from the employer is this normal now these days?

I understand they can't tell everyone who has applied due to lots of applications but surely if you have been interviewed?

We need more information to make a sensible comment

How long ago? Via an agency or direct? Size of firm? Position of interviewer? Speculative application or response to an advert?

Sometimes firms just get a bit lost in their process, he should follow up. At least ask for feedback.

And if he gets no joy, no harm then in going on the attack using social media. But then Midlands tells me I am argumentative.

There is always the sadly "you have not convinced me that you are qualified to be my employer" approach. Many contributors will be able to provide words.
