I don't think this is true. Gallagher is more of a scrappy box-to-box midfielder in the Cabaye mold. He's strong and good at defensive duties as well as moving the ball forward. I imagine he'll be partnering with Luka as a CM. Eze is a flashy attacking midfielder best suited to a CAM role, but who we'll most likely play as a LM in a 442 (RLC's old position — free to drift centrally as needed). In a midfield 4 I assume we'll play: Eze----Gallagher----Luka----Townsend (or a new signing) I don't think it's a big shift or departure for Roy since it's essentially swapping RLC for Eze and Cabaye for Gallagher (both of which make sense). We had a lot of success with that setup in the past. Edited by AdaSirin (03 Sep 2020 7.38pm) I don’t think you’re right about that. That’s what I thought at first but from what I’ve read, watched and been told by a mate who is a die hard Swansea fan he doesn’t believe this is the case. He’s no scrappy box to box midfielder.

He’s no scrappy box to box midfielder. That's interesting. I might be wrong. Based on highlights videos I've watched and things I've read he seems like a strong, tenacious box-to-box midfielder with a high work-rate. Just looking at his wikipedia page now, that's how he describes himself too: "my best position is as a box-to-box midfielder [...] I can play deeper and I can play attacking as well." His ex-manager at Charlton said similar things: "an all-round midfielder. His work-rate is unreal, he puts his foot in for tackles and he can also see a pass." But that's interesting what your friend said about him. If he's more of an attacking midfielder maybe we're thinking of playing him as a RM in a narrow midfield 4? I can only assume that we're signing him for a good reason and with a specific position in mind. And Chelsea aren't the type of club to be happy having one of their loanees sit on the bench 90% of the time. In fact, the reason we seem to have such a good relationship with them is largely due to the fact that we properly utilise their loanees and provide them with lots of experience.

I agree he does seem a good all rounder. That’s perhaps the best description of him. Tenacious ball winner? Not sold on that. At Charlton he scored a fair goals by arriving late in the box. At Swansea he lost his shooting boots but set up a fair few goals. Mainly cut backs and the odd through ball. But he was always far up the pitch. As he is such a good all rounder then it’s hard to guess where he will play...but my guess is that he wouldn’t be played as a holding midfielder ahead of other more established players at Palace, unless we sell one

If Sorloth rumours are true this could give us a chance to look at our first options again. Kothchup - Young Defender close to deal being completed I will just add I did say we were after another 2 Strikers but was not told names. So I am guessing this Brazil kid is one them. Palace are buying youth. I have nothing to prove to any of you either read the posts or just skip over the posts & ignore them.
