No ITK but I am confident we will sign another young striker. Just don't ask me who!

I have heard through the grapevine & i am deffo ITK, albeit in my own lunchbox, that we may or maybe not signing/letting some players leave, as long as 'The Athletic' are up to speed. 'Part from that i know diddly squat

Gonna be a great last few days of the 'transfer' window. Still think we can upset Chelski, its being here in Spain that does it, sorry bout that. Luv u all(ish)

It does but he is on big wages and 33 years old.

If a suitable bid came in, I think we'd have to take a look at it.

This is the window to refresh and reduce the average age, with players like Dann now sadly being part of the problem, in regards to long term.

I don't WANT him to go, but you could see why he could.

I agree. Fully fit squad and he’ll be an expensive bench warmer. He’ll be thinking about his playing opportunities and would walk into a starting position at Boro or QPR for example. I think he’s been such a great servant to the club it would be harsh to deny him a move if the money is right.

Everyone seems to take any pronouncements by anyone at The Athletic as gospel. I wonder if Steve gives them a ring each morning to give them updates as to who we are after

My guess (not itk) is:

In:
Benrahama - maybe not by end of PL, but by end of EPL window)
Downes - then lent back to Ipswich for the season

Out:
Benteke - not to Spurs, but some Belgium club
Wickham - permanently to Sheffield Wednesday or some other club
Meyer - loaned out to championship club for half a season
Innis - finally time to let him go

IMHO, would still rather us sign Deulofeu than Benrahama, even though he's injured.

Very good guesses. My equally nonITK hope is that Sarr will end up in SE25 without Zaha leaving. Fantasy football? You betcha!

I’d take Sarr. The fact that he is back up on Liverpool and Utd’s list suggests he is a player.

Not sure getting rid of both Wickham & Benteke is ideal unless there is a new forward identified to come as an injury to either Ayew or Batshuayi would leave squad depth up front in the central positions no better than last year.
Also not sure buying a player & loaning him back is much of an idea as surely the intention should be to strengthen our side.
Roy has already stated his intention not to allow Scott Banks to be loaned out so if we are looking for younger players to strengthen, they should be good enough to go straight into the side or be in the regular squads.

Mmmm...I mean no disrespect, butfor 40 million? I feel this is a very serious buy and comments such as "I'd take Sarr" don't do it justice. I mean , sure, I'd take him too. But for a potentially bankruptcy inducing cost? (Cause it's possible with a relegation, hopefully not)

This would need to be analysed very seriously. It's not like paying 10 million on Kouyate and knowing you get your money's worth.

I think the club was pretty shaken having paid those 30 million for Benteke some years ago. A lot of money at that time. Couldn't afford many other buys. Left us in mediocrity for a long time, unable to bring many more talents for much money. We never went high like Leicester, Wolverhampton, even Southampton, cause we couldn't afford their players anymore.

We ought to be very careful with those money.

The thing with Meyer is that if he's not physical enough for the Prem, there's no way he's going to cut it in the championship...where skill/ability give way to strength and endeavour even more so. Maxy needs to play in Spain or somewhere where his obvious ability can shine.

What you say is true however I do believe SP is probably well aware of any financial implications of high transfer fee. Indeed he has previously stated such. With Benteke possibly going for £10m and £9m for Sorloth both an added bonus this season we should be able to set our sights higher but we will not pay £40m. If Dann goes his fee will be spent on Bella Kotchap imo

Not sure Sheffield Wednesday would want him back. If he took a massive drop in wages ( as this club are in financial trouble) Ipswich would have him back like a shot. Son’s girlfriend family are s/t holders there. Perhaps may help getting Downes. However despite the chances of him not finding a club I doubt CW would take such a hit on wages at this time
