Regarding Benteke, as we have seen from another player, he would probably score s***loads in Turkey so would be good value to one of their clubs for £5m.

Hadn't thought of Benteke in a Celtic deal, but what a good idea. Sakho for £5m? I don't see any takers for such an injury prone player

It will be interesting to see the net spend of each prem club when transfer window closes. My guess is that each club will look to end up with a zero spend. I cant see us spending on 2 or 3 players without being confident that we can recoup the same amount with sales.

What is this progress people are talking about? Is staying still progress? Avoiding relegation year on year? If so, we can't argue that we are in the most successful period in Palace's history. I remember reading an article about how Pardew's reign had left us in a difficult position with lack of depth and high wages. So is staying up whilst knocking off £500k/week in wages "progress"? We seemed to suffer with lack of recovery time post lockdown. So is progress about reducing our average age? Zaha is going to go, so is Hodgson - so is maintaining our Premier League status without Zaha and Hodgson progress? There is now more momentum behind the idea that progress can be attained and measured by looking purely at statistics (a la Brentford) so is that a way to achieve progress? Every business I have been involved in starts with a mission / purpose / strategy and then looks at how it will spread its resources to deliver. If ours is to sign players who will do just enough to keep us up then all well and good - but it does seem that a lot of the false dawns are driven by click bait stories of players who just do not fit into Palace's strategy. That said I am not certain what that strategy is.
