What sort of reply to the BBC is that? If he is Irish should he be President of the USA? 12.5% Irish through his mother’s side. His Great Great Grandfather was born in Sussex “I m Irish” ffs suits an agenda I suppose

He"s nailed his colours to the wall i guess, and the majority of 45 million Irish probably bought in to it, so you could summise it worked!

Not sure it was him that said it, but if he shouldn"t be president of the usa cos of his Irish roots,. surely bojo shouldn"t be pm over here cos of his usa roots?

But he is not Irish, have seen this thousands of times at the airport with Americans, they love being American but want to be Irish/Italian etc.
Not a great reply to the BBC really is it?

Biden was friends with George Washington so it's not surprising he's hostile to the Crown.

Can not argue with that but... he is not Irish. My great grandmother was Austrian but I have never described myself as such

It looked like the reporter said im Irish-as if to get a reply from Joe, like Joe was already chatting to someone already? But to be fair, even if he did say it, the bbc isn"t anything to do with the usa, might be a big fish in a small pond here, but in the usa its just another foreign news company. I guess if Joe tells boris to forget about a trade deal unless he backs down on the Irish issues, that he so publicly wanted to break international law on, will show us how Irish he feels!

No harm in that. When has an Austrian ever caused any trouble?

Ffs can you imagine if that was Trump. The bloke acts like a paedo, most of the kids and some of the adults look very uncomfortable, still he is now leader of the free world

If it was Trump it would get lost in the pile of other character faults, lies and Twitter aggression and soon be yesterday's news.

As there is so little to chuck at Biden every perceived fault gets amplified and repeated.

I have no idea when that picture was taken or the context. What is certain is that times have changed. It wasn't so long ago that being "touchy-feely" was considered a positive attribute, signifying a warm and empathetic personality. Now such behaviour is regarded with suspicion and never acceptable. Adults in school settings are prohibited from any contact with children, even if they need a comforting cuddle.

So I think we need to cut Biden some slack. There is no evidence he is a "paedo" at all and plenty that he is caring. If he did such things now he would be condemned, not least for being stupid, but historical behaviour needs context.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

I wouldn't get so hung up about him saying he's Irish. They all do it in the States - Irish / Italian etc
I (and half of some parts of South London and plenty of parts of North London)can play for Ireland because parents and grandparents were born there and the ancestry comes out plenty on family occasions, especially if relatives from Ireland are there.
If he wants to live his Irish roots and protect the Good Friday agreement good for him.
The Tory's kissed Trump's arse and Johnson was bending over for him - well he's gone now and the new administration in the States haven't forgotten that by the sounds of it.

Every fault gets amplified!! Ffs this makes him look like a paedo, so as it’s not Trump that is acceptable? Unbelievable.Looking at Biden, not that long ago. So when was “touchy feely” with an an under age child acceptable? He was not an adult in a school environment. Historical behaviour needs context, tell that to BLM. Did anyone cut Trump any slack? I am not a Trump fan but come on what’s good for the goose
