Sorry, not sure what point you're trying to make here - the first link, in isolation, doesn't tell you much.

Taking a look here gives you perhaps a more informative picture:

[Link]

Essentially, Sweden are doing worse than other Scandinavian countries. But by the same token, Sweden are not completely, utterly, determinedly f***ing their economy back to the stone age.

There is no indication in these graphs how many of those dying would be dying anyway. Better then to look at the excess death rates.

[Link]

Selecting Sweden in the very last set of graphs (it's probably auto-selected). There have been statistically FEWER deaths in Sweden since week 37 (the 1st week of September).

Let me make this very clear: fewer people are dying in Sweden than are expected to die in Sweden in any given week, since September. Sweden have not locked down their economy.

Why are we destroying our economy? I mean, I get it: the left wing want to shut down and trash as much as possible, so not only can they impose big-state nannying, handouts and UBI, but they hope their Marxist ideals will emerge from the burning wreckage of the economy. I get that. A "great reset". All very Pol Pot. But why is this government going along with this?

Nothing to be sorry for if you missed the point. But you missed the point regardless. Sweden are doing better than most countries by not imposing draconian restrictions. Comparing countries that have fared better is as bad as comparing countries that didn't. If you actually looked at my previous post you would see the science which backs up the Swedish approach. But nobody seems to listen to anything other than what the Government tells them. Which I find extremely far removed from their usual stance.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

With respect, I am loathe to make comparisons with Sweden, which has a population of just over 10 million, is the largest country in Northern Europe and has a low population density.

High time that I went for a slumber.Goodnight.

Tomorrow we will be informed as to which areas will fall into the different 'Tiers'.

I will be incandescent with rage if my area moves to 'Tier 2' given the latest case numbers which show that the number of cases in my area is less than 100 per 100,000 and that new cases have fallen in the last week.We are informed there are other criteria of course but I will be one thoroughly miserable hombre if we enter 'Tier 2'.

It will be devastating for the hospitality industry , especially Public Houses and devastating for families not being able to meet indoors for a period which could last until Easter at the earliest.
Of course families can meet outdoors in the winter months !

Does anyone know if local/county councils get financial assistance if they are in Tier 3? I have friends in Maldon, Essex which is Tier 1 and one of the lowest rates in the UK. However Essex CC want to move them to Tier 3, why?

The Government has been providing additional funding to allow Local Authorities to support businesses in high-alert level areas which are not legally closed, but which are severely impacted by the restrictions on socialising. The funding is based on the number of hospitality, hotel, B&B, and leisure businesses in their area.

There has been a post on this thread which mentioned "Draconian restrictions".

Not being able to drop into a 'Local' just for a tipple a two, a very British tradition, and only being able to see families and loved ones outdoors in winter months could be filed in the category "Draconian".

We can all huddle around in the great outdoors with mufflers on in winter temperatures whilst witnessing removal lorries empty public houses and bars of their furniture following the closure of these establishments.

Ministers have been accused of using Covid-19 data to frighten the populace rather than inform them with pandemic statistics 'Cherry-picked' to fit the response to the crisis.
Large numbers are being displayed which appear to be intended to give an effect favourable to politicians rather than generally attempting to inform the public.
Lets have detailed information showing the sheer economic impact, the impact on businesses, the impact on health and other knock-on effects of the draconian measures.

Thank you Willo.
Just heard that the Govt have warned that areas need to be prepared to have their Tier level raised today. Will be reviewed again on 16th December. Ffs people need to able to plan for Christmas, not sure if either of our offspring will be able to visit, here’s hoping

That's very considerate of them.

By that date, a number of hospitality establishments will have closed their doors for ever and we will all have heavy colds, and worse, after meeting up with our loved ones in the great cold and damp outdoors.

The restrictions will continue to be punishing for individuals and for hospitality which employs 3 million the clampdown will prove catastrophic.

We got moved to Tier 2 last time when looking at the data there was no real need to compared to other parts of the country. I think the councils do get more support financially the higher the tier.

Won’t wet pubs just want to be in tier 3 rather than tier 2?

Yep. South Suffolk virtually lowest rate in UK moved from Tier 1 to Tier 2!! My town Horsham moved from Tier 1 to Tier 2. Cornwall and IOW only places in Tier 1. No football teams in Tier1 so no 4000 crowds
