We got moved to Tier 2 last time when looking at the data there was no real need to compared to other parts of the country. I think the councils do get more support financially the higher the tier.

Thanks probably explains a lot

Yep. South Suffolk virtually lowest rate in UK moved from Tier 1 to Tier 2!! My town Horsham moved from Tier 1 to Tier 2. Cornwall and IOW only places in Tier 1. No football teams in Tier1 so no 4000 crowds

Evidently the restrictions will be reviewed on 16 December by which time a number of hospitality and associated businesses will have closed their doors forever.
I hold out NO hope whatsoever that there will be any easing of restrictions on that date.

Businesses going out of existence, more people unemployed, families kept apart - let us be informed of the overall effect instead of publishing inappropriate graphs cherry-picking evidence and using it selectively.

Well worth scrolling down on the government website to read why in your region.

Luckily there’s a lot of boring people in Surrey along with the rest of it so we’ll always be better off with these tiers and restrictions, we’d hope. Of course a lot of us are sensible when needed.

My region shows a case rate of 120 per 100,000 which equates to just 0.12%.There is mention of "Increasing" cases and "Increasing" hospital admittance for serious cases. No mention whatsoever on the rate of increases so it is not quantified.

Overall, 98.7% of the population will not be able to meet families and loved ones indoors (Except for the Christmas truce, one assumes) a situation which could continue well into the new year.Meeting outside in the freezing winter months is not to be recommended.

I happen to believe that there could well be significant non-compliance across the country.

Yes. But it depends how far you take it. There’s without doubt more compliance or common sense or however you want to describe it in higher socioeconomic areas. Some will be due to work environments but it will also be down to behaviour.

I look forward to the response of the CRG (Covid Response Group) consisting of 70 Conservative MPs.

There is every chance that the "No indoor mixing" regulation could continue into the spring.
I happen to believe that many families will decide that enough is enough and transgress the rules before then.

On reflection (Over an hour since I posted the above), I believe the "Indoor mixing" rules might well change following a backlash and further consideration.

This pandemic will only end once the people of this country decide to end it.

More than 22 million people who were in 'Tier 1' are no longer in this tier.
And there are 15 million more people in 'Tier 3'

It is going to very different for millions of people.
Miserable.

In some ways it’s a punishment for carrying on as normal this month. But it’s also lumping whole regions together.

This asymptomatic nonsense needs to end with more follow up tests. Problem is they count all tests and won’t cancel the first result if the 2nd is negative, for various reasons, right and wrong.
