I beleive this is how a virus works. It does itself no favours killing its host so it gets more contagious and slightly weaker to stay alive and carry on its infection to survive. I think that's what happened with the spanish flu. Basically it could be the start of the end so to speak. Figures on deaths may well back this up but it will take 4-5 weeks for the data to show if this is the case.
Qualifications....hope!

I posted a couple a few weeks back that my GP friend had seen a spike amongst the young but that the effects of the virus were actually weaker.

Apparently hospital admissions are not spiking which if it was deadly they should.

If this is indeed the truth then don’t expect any acknowledgement from the government. They are so deep in with the vaccine companies that they will deflect any good news like that to ensure everyone is frightened into taking the vaccine whether they need it or not.

COVID Christmas rumour mill

• 5 days to 3
• 3 households to 2

Can't see them binning it off entirely, the plebs would riot

Better hope Grandma and Grandad only had one child with children otherwise there is going to be a lot of family missing out on a get together. Mind you, you won’t be allowed to travel from area to area anyway so you not only have to rely on having a small family, but also one that lives close by, otherwise just give up until next Christmas!

There are two main elements to Covid. Obviously it's fatal to vulnerable people so pathways have to be reduced. Second is 'risk' and the perception of risk and the practicalities of minimising it.
Wearing a face mask and using hand gel minimises risk, but it doesn't provide immunity.
My local shopkeeper and his family have tested positive. This massively impacts his business and workers.
In theory, everyone who has been into the shop in the last week should be self-isolating and/or being tested

And here's the real rub. The village where i live is Tier 2. The next nearest shop is Tier 3 (about 8 miles away)
So i have to drive 15 miles (and no doubt all the other villagers do) to the next shop in Tier 2, where we are now potential spreaders.

And putting petrol in the car , there was a white van with two 'youngsters' going into the shop without masks.
Obviously we have differences on a football internet forum, based on our own life experiences.
But CV19 has just made me realise how many fvckwits we have in society

Once the vulnerable have been offered the vaccine I think the government should tell the rest of us to get on with our lives, wear a mask or not, your choice you are not one of the vulnerable.

The government should also be helping out business by offering to pay for regular tests for staff in certain sectors.

I actually thought 5 days wasn’t necessary. But then I thought it makes no difference if it’s the same people and only those people. But of course in many cases it wouldn’t be because it never is. Between Christmas and new year people see other people and family beyond immediate family.

I wonder how many who have already planned on 3+ households will change to 2.

Blimey, where do you live?

There’s no need to go into petrol shops when you can pay at the window. I don’t know why people put a mask on to go in and pay inside. I just pay at the window after using a disposable plastic glove at the pump. Those pumps will have germs and urine on them.

It’s the people getting up close in supermarkets because they’ve got a mask on that makes me wonder.

‘Registered weekly deaths involving COVID-19 in England and Wales have fallen for the first time in three months, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) says.

In the week ending 4 December, there were 2,835 deaths where "novel coronavirus" was mentioned on the death certificate.’

Taking a while to report week ending 11 December maybe? It’s now 15 December.

If deaths continue to fall while positives rise then the same questions will be asked again and Badger’s doctor friend and history of viruses are probably right.

Unless of course governments cause a ‘third wave.’

I haven’t looked at the effect of lockdown 2 on this fall in deaths week ending 4th December but there was more compliance at the start of the month and then people didn’t comply as the month went on. The dates don’t help with Christmas in 9-10 days but where are the death numbers for week ending 11 December? With a bit more time or the death numbers they could categorically say that the virus is behaving naturally and unless lockdown does really mean lockdown then it’s purely political. Cue shielding the vulnerable is impossible arguments. (Depends how far you stretch vulnerable)

Deaths aren’t important, really. Unless you’re talking crazy numbers a day of course. Hospitalisation rates are due to capacity limits.

For example, even if there are high numbers of cases, if there are very low hospitalisations, then there is no reason to enter into lockdown or high tiers. Even with several hundred deaths a day, frankly.

How are we looking on hospital capacity? A while ago we had improved true Covid patient turnaround.
