We shouldn’t offload any we’re going to need a big squad for the Champions League next season 🤪

Dann and Townsend are you actually mental sorry mate but that's crazy talk.

I can see us selling Dann because we’d get some money for him before getting nothing for him. I can see this happening for virtually all our players as long as the powers that be feel the price is okay, and they can work with what they have or get new faces in with what they have. Unfortunately I wouldn’t be confident of us doing that or being able to do it well enough anyway. Cahill fell in our lap remember. He knew Roy but if he didn’t want to stay down south where I expect his children are at school and growing up he might be elsewhere.

We are just not bringing any money in and they’re not going to turn offers down from now on imo. They probably look at Luca and wish they courted the £20 mil Everton interest.

The sooner fans get used to accounts, spreadsheets and Freedman, who doesn’t appear to work in harmony with Roy, deciding transfers and the squad, the better for their anger levels come deadline day.

I wouldn’t go as far as asset stripping but a lot of decisions will be financially based. There has been attempts to sign younger players to slowly turn the squad age into a more sustainable one long term so at least they realise it before addressing it. I doubt we’ll see any of our academy stars now Parish is removing the barrier to them getting in the team lol. What does he take us for?

Dann is out of contract in June 2020, so will leave. He is the only senior player out of contract this summer.

About 10 players are out of contract in 2021

So, if Roy is also out of contract in 2021. Could get quite interesting (and nervy)

It’s all about having a balanced squad. At present it is too old. If you look at our centre half’s as an example. We could shed two of them and bring in 1 decent youngster. I would keep Tomkins, Cahill and Kelly and would sell Sakho and Dann. That should be more than sufficient to half the wage bill for that position and have enough cash to bring in a quality youngster as well as help with balancing the books for the more needed positions.

We need a young addition at right back. PVA and Reidewald/Schlupp have the left covered. I would sell one of Milivojevic, Kouyate, McArthur and McCarthy and based on the ability to raise money that would probably be Milivojevic. He should be replaced by a young attacking midfielder as we have enough defensive players. If Roy genuinely doesn’t like Meyer then I would look for a like for like type of swap, but I get the feeling he might be staying. Up front, if Zaha goes we need two wingers and if he stays, one. If Benteke stays we need a quality young forward and if he goes two. Again I think Benteke will stay. Not sure about Wilf. Townsend and Ayew are good enough for a few seasons.

So, in summary, this summer I believe we can expect to see perhaps 4 outgoing players and hopefully 5 or 6 incoming younger players. We should also make sure our loan spots are fully used up.

All in my opinion of course, but that is what chat boards are for!

Luka needs to pull his head out of his arse or I would let him go. McArthy for me is a future Captain along with Cahill.

Benteke I have been Benheskey's greatest detractor for all but his last two games. Something has changed in the way Roy plays him, and he is without douby improved now the weight is off him to score. There is a very promising partnership developing with him and Ayew. Much like Bright and wright ( not as dynamic but you get the point ?) for that reason alone he has to stay IMO.

Meyer needs to be the attacking midfielder in a 451 or 442 Roy plays neither so we will never see the best of him which is a shame as he is technically one of our best players. It's a shame but square peg in a round hole so he's got to go I think.

Sakho has struggled with Injury this season, and reminds me a bit of when we Had Anthony Gardener From Spurs, on his day looks like a world beater but always has that one moment in a game where you think how the fcuk is he a professional footballer. His age is an issue as well plus wages, if it's a toss up between him and Tomkins I would keep Tomkins, with Dann doing OK and Kelly able to Cover at Center Back I think Sakho is an expense we can't carry.

Hennessy needs game time elsewhere, Guita has shown just how poor Hennesey actually is. I was never a fan of Hennesey two slow, and for a gurt big lump sh1t at commanding his area. We need better cover for G man.

Wilf - Wouldn't be to certain he will leave to be honest. His performances and goal return do not warrant the fee Parish is after, can you honestly see anyone offering the 70 million we're after ? I would say Adama Traore from Wolves, and Allan Saint-Maximin have probably gone ahead of Wilf in the Bigger clubs "would like to have" lists, and have arguably had better seasons. However the Chelsea deal with Bats coming our way is apparently a done deal so who the feck Knows.

Sorloth - Don't care how many goals he's scored in Turkey, it's a tin pot league and he was absolutely out of his depth in the prem. Championship player at best. Vent.

Wickham - Made of glass and not tearing up tree's with Wednesday get rid.

Agree about Benteke 100%, Meyer is in the same league as Sorloth I'm afraid but I'd keep Wickham easily good enough if he can remain fit, didn't know about the Chelsea deal because I thought Zaha would never be leaving considering how dull he's become ..maybe knowing about the move and being cross about Parish still has made him this way if that's the case and he's off to Chelsea, Sakho can go along with the saluting one in my book.

I doubt there will be a big clearout in the summer, as some continuity is needed. I expect 4-5 will go, if we can offload them and bring in younger players. My choice to go would be Sakho ( wages and fitness ) Meyer ( wages and just not stronger enough ) Dann ( out of contract ) Ward ( age ) and Wickham ( fitness issues ) or Zaha ( the usual saga and he may just go this summer )

Rubbish.

Hennessy a quality prem keeper and a great option at #2.

hahahahahahahah

I don't see what's funny? How many other teams can boast an international #1 as their back up option? No one's saying he's better than VG...but laughing like that at the suggestion he's a decent back up only backs yourself look silly.

Meyer gives something different and changed the game regularly when he enters the fray.

He is a good player in my opinion, however he doesn't fit into Hodgesdon's style of playing, I think he was added to the squad to play the deep role that Cabaye Played so well, so if you compare him to Cabaye you see his short comings in that position.

Fair enough. Personally I still think he's contributed when he's come on...but that's open for debate.

Sakho our most talented defender when fit. Needs a chance to get back to that.

Cahill is head and shoulders above any other defender at the club. Sakho when fit is good cover for Tomkins nothing else.

That's your opinion. Cahill is solid as and a better leader. I think Sakho is a better football player. All opinions. Regardless, doesn't mean we should get rid of Sakho just because Cahill might be better?

Luka. Doesn't even deserve a reply.

Have you watched his performances this season ? He has been savagely average at best all season and got torn a new one by Moy at home to the weed. Pace is letting him down, and to a certain degree McArthur is mopping up his errors.

Yes I have. Did you watch his performances over the last two? Again, being slightly below par for half a season doesn't mean you get rid of someone who's undoubtedly one of our best players. Suggesting we move Luka on is laughable.

Benteke - starting to show some great form.

Agreed, the withdrawn number 9 role suits him better.

We need to be adding to the squad...not depleating it.

Only if it betters what we have. Agree.

Only people i'd consider moving on are Dann and Townsend. Love them both, but they need to be playing.

Dann and Townsend are you actually mental sorry mate but that's crazy talk.

How's that crazy? Makes much more sense to keep Mama than Dann. And yeah, maybe you're right on Andros. Worth keeping around.

Realistically we need to trim our defensive options. We have Tonks, Cahill, Dann, Kelly and Sakho as well as Jairo and Kouyate for cover.

Ultimately not all of those players are going to be happy on the bench. For me Cahill is our best CB and Tomkins and him are probably the best pairing.

Sakho is up there without a doubt but on over 100k per week, we can’t have a player that is fit for 10-20 games a season. He is the one that needs to move on for the benefit of the squad.

Kelly covers a couple of positions and is on cheap wages and is a great option in the squad. And Dann is an excellent option at cover, one who will get enough games if he is our first choice cover.

I like Sakho but for how much we pay, it’s just not worth having him in the squad.

That's fair enough. I'm mostly looking at the ability of the players without taking $$$ into it too much.

You might be right. I just think he's a cracking player defensively and offensively when he's on song.

I rate him too, honestly. But for a player with a track record of terrible injuries and a player that has a mistake in him at any point in the first 15 minutes of a match it’s just too much. I think now is the ideal time to get rid because he still has something to give another team and we could sell him rather than letting him go for nothing.

Realistically looking at our expenditure, we have to look at every player from the perspective of their worth to the club both on the pitch and financially. I also really like Meyer and think he hasn’t had a fair crack because of this system, but if we could shift him in the summer it wouldn’t be the worst idea either. 230-250k a week is an enormous sum and that money needs to be being used sensibly.

In an ideal world they play well every week next season and are worth that money, but if that isn’t the case then we need to make a move.
