Did you even watch the Walsall game, can uou believe Benteke will fit into Viera's style of play.

There's an argument to say a style of play should be determined by the players at your disposal. Benteke is far and away our best striker. So why not build a style of play him.

God forbid.
I have never been impressed with Maitland-Niles.

Do you seriously think Benteke is good enough to build a team round, for a start he isn't good enough, and what if he got injured, you can build a team around any one player, our new style will be short one two passing hardly any crosses, whether it works we will find out by Christmas, he needs a team like Burnley who don't play inverted wingers and crosses are there main attack, a new Wright, AJ, Dougie style of CF is needed to to be a success maybe Ayew in the new style or Street

Back on OP could it be that palace only want to buy Gallagher or loan with an option but chelsea will only loan hence the likely move north?

Whenever I have seen Gallagher in recent seasons, he has put in a good shift for his clubs but gave away a string of fouls and picked up numerous bookings.
I was not totally convinced about his prowess.

Tell me who was good against Leeds away! A dreadful performance but everyone. Singling Mateta out and basing him on that game isn't fair.

He started it with his poor play that led to the early first goal. Things went downhill from there.

I was thinking Ayew might fit in well as CF in that style. He showed the season before last that he can do a job at CF and he would get more attacking support with the new style. Worth a go if Tekkers does get sold until we can find another alternative at an affordable price.

Some of the most effective mid field players over the years have had these tendencies Nobby Styles, . Billy Bremner, Roy Keane, Bryan Robson , and many more here, and abroad , none were frightened of a yellow card, you could say it was part of their game, aggression certainly was if it was a matter of winning ball or breaking opposition play patterns..
he isn’t getting sent off, which of course is important. And last year he was so often forced into playing with the team on the back foot, this in turn meant he was having to display the more negative tactics in his armoury more often than even he would have liked.

In terms of winning the ball, his success in terms of tackles was just over 50% over the last 2 seasons.

Haven't been overly impressed by Gallagher, yes he has lots of energy but doesn't score often apart from against us of course. I think Gilmour would have been a better option but we've missed out on him.
