In terms of winning the ball, his success in terms of tackles was just over 50% over the last 2 seasons.

As with so many stats that one is deceptive, when applied to a busy tackling player, 50% of how many tackles, is of importance if it’s to be taken seriously. Someone can make two tackles in a game and win both. 100%. Statistically great . Beyond that diverting the ball can be just as effective yet that probably isn’t contained in that stat.
My actual feeling on Gallagher, is that he has shown enough in his loans , to say he is for his age a real prospect, already capable of holding his own at the level we are at, capable of playing in a defensive shape yet capable of quickly moving into offensive, he still needs to develop to be really special , but at the right price, well worth the risk of buying into his future development.

I also think Jairo Riedewald will thrive in the new style and become the player in midfield we need

That's what I've heard rom a reasonably reliable source.

Fantastic. Barely credible source supports what I have wholly made up!

OK, it does make sense. If correct, it also says something about how relatively well placed we are this window. Maybe we no longer rely on scraps from the top table?

Wouldn't that be nice?

There have been recurring reports over the last couple of months that Tuchel wanted to look at Gallagher in preseason and that Chelsea would want a loan, not a sale. None of this has been direct quotes from within the club, but what you suggested falls into line what the media has been saying for a while now.

I do wonder if Gallagher is possibly a back-up option for Newcastle in case they don't get Willock, who Bruce has publicly stated is their primary target.

Gallagher is a proper box-to-box midfielder and in a better team than WBA were I think he'll shine. I personally hope we get him, but I agree with Lanzo-Ad that I think Jairo might shine under Vieira.

I imagine he's going nowhere.

Innocent until proven guilty but it would take a huge leap of faith to buy him now.

It's interesting that despite Vieira's links with Arsenal and Manchester City the media seem to be linking us mainly with Chelsea players and we have signed two of them already

One logical conclusion (just one!) is that those transfers were all Dougie and long term and nothing much to do with PV unless his presence helped them over the line.

Some of the most effective mid field players over the years have had these tendencies Nobby Styles, . Billy Bremner, Roy Keane, Bryan Robson , and many more here, and abroad , none were frightened of a yellow card, you could say it was part of their game, aggression certainly was if it was a matter of winning ball or breaking opposition play patterns..
he isn’t getting sent off, which of course is important. And last year he was so often forced into playing with the team on the back foot, this in turn meant he was having to display the more negative tactics in his armoury more often than even he would have liked.

Not forgetting Vieira himself.

Looks like Trevoh Chalobah. Defensive midfielder/ central defender. Haven’t seen him play but Wiki puts him at 6’3”.
