Would never happen but Bielsa could be interesting.
The inspiration for Guardiola and Pochettino and very demanding of his players and his board.
Has managed to actually improve players and is still getting a tune out of 35 year old Pablo Hernandez and journeymen like Dallas. Even Bamford has scored a few goals for him.
Has a bid of an edge about him that the best managers have and when asked why he maintained a distance from his players he said the more they knew him the less they would like him.

Why was Ferguson so good? A comforting arm round the shoulder when you needed it but cross him in any shape or form and you waved goodbye to your Utd career. I think there should be distance between manager and player. Get too close and friendship can get in the way of tough decisions.

I heard someone who used to play for Clough say that "Cloughie" used to buy presents for the wives and girlfriends of the players, believing that if you kept them happy, his players were happy!

Now that's genius.

Very Shakespearian.

Clive Woodward's wife started arranging a WAG's group too aimed at supporting the players. No stone left unturned. Something that Southgate and Jones have adopted since. [Link]

I hope our club does something similar.

If must be quite scary if you are a wife and your husband has dragged you across the other side of the country or abroad. You have to find schools for the kids then will they settle but it must be very lonely so a support group sounds a great idea for those that need it.

Parish got his fingers burned with FDB it was a good idea that just didn't work out.

I doubt he will be willing to take a chance like that again so I expect whoever takes over from Roy will be the tried and tested variety.

Exactly, which is why I think they will be considering Dyche. Possibly a smoother transition required. You cannot argue with what hes achieved at Burnley last 2-3 seasons with arguably a weaker squad than ours. Also when we played them a few weeks ago their passing was really good, pretty much kept the ball all game. However one note of caution for me is that Roys mind numbing non use of subs is actully better than Dyches this season..

Coppel, and Wilder ,are examples of potential making good , but they didn’t just walk into a Premier league hotbed , they developed a style and moved it into the top league. And Coppel, couldn’t react when his clubs failed to build. If we went down the potential route we should have placed someone under Roy’s wing ages ago.

I used to watch his Derby when I was at college in Matlock during their first season in the top flight. Love him or hate him, he was simply unique. Now if he was still around...
Of course, he earned his chance at Derby because of his success at Hartlepool (You have to start somewhere, "Jeff" where he and Taylor took the team from the bottom two (they were regularly involved in the re-election to the league vote) into the top half of the table before the pair moved to Derby. As Wiki says, Hartlepool were promoted the following season for the first time in their history.
Too much reminiscing - should have put this under nostalgia but who cares.

Clough was relegated in his final season in management when Nottm For slipped through that dreaded relegation trapdoor.

It's similar how United went wrong with Wilf. Took an 18 year old away from his big family. Stuck him in a flat on his own, froze him out of the team, wasted a £15m investment over when hiring someone to keep an eye out for him would have been small change.

I heard a few years back that Fergie insisted all Manchester United teams and playing staff have their meal togerther with the idea being that they work together for the same goal. NASA did the same thing, apparently if you asked a cleaner and NASA what they were employed to do they would answer that their job was to help put a man on the moon.

El Tel bought Gazza's parents a house and sister a sunbed.
