Kavanaugh wasn't attacked unfairly at all! He was a poor candidate, with a dubious past which needed to be examined. He appears to just be a Trump stooge who never utters a word of criticism of the man who gave him his job. No evidence of a great legal mind on show there.

Coney Barrett seems a class act. Principled and thoughtful. She might be a conservative but I suspect her loyalty will be to the constitution and the law and not to any pressure from the right. So she might well surprise people, just as John Roberts does.

The Dems won't attack her on a personal level. Why should they? They don't stoop that low. They will attack the process and the attempt to thwart the will of the people. What happens when we have a Dem POTUS and a Dem controlled House and Senate is the really interesting question. Will they expand the Court and risk that principal becoming established?

The dems dont attack on a personal level ha ha

My popcorn supply is simply not sufficient enough to be able to cope with the US Election.

Genuinely a laugh out loud moment, you're a fool. They are already piling on her because.
A/ She happens to be a Catholic.
B/ She adopted Black kids.

Really. The level of abuse he received was incredible and for what. A woman alleges she was groped by him when they were teens however she only remembers the incident a few years back and her best then friend and now had never heard of it, no corroborating witness's but she must be believed.

Maybe he did grope her "they were teens back in the 1980's" a different world then but he says he didn't. What was more interesting was the lack of other allegations he was no Weinstein otherwise women would be coming forward.

In any political grouping as large as the Democrats, or indeed the Republicans, there are going to be some who say stupid things and provide their opponents with the opportunity to sling mud. Not every Democrat believes in left-wing politics, or supports Antifa, just as not every Republican is a white supremacist or a proud boy.

Of course the Democratic Senators will probe a candidate's personal beliefs and elicit answers that they will need to stand by in the future. No jurist ought to allow their personal convictions to over-ride the law and making sure that won't happen is particularly important when dealing with anyone who holds a strong religious conviction. That's their job and you would not expect anything different, whether they be Democrat or Republican.

It's the same with adoption. They will probe the motivation and get statements on the record. There is nothing to see here at all.

The primary area of attack won't be on the candidate but on the process which puts her under consideration. Even that, I suspect, won't be centre stage. People have their minds made up about that already. The focus will be on what a Democratic POTUS, together with a Democratic majority in both houses, will do to repair this damage and restore the integrity, dignity and reputation of a country which has suffered such a huge fall in those areas in the last 4 years.

It was very much more than a "grope" and she was a compelling and completely believable witness. I watched those hearings live and she either spoke the truth or was the greatest undiscovered actor the world has seen. Kavanaugh's face told a story too. It exposed him as a liar and a fraud. Nevermind it happened long ago, when standards differed. Truth and honesty are timeless and he failed.

There were others. They just didn't testify. Testifying in cases that impact Trump requires a lot of personal bravery, not only for yourself but your family and I can well understand why some are reluctant when careers have been ruined as a result.

Ah yes we know he's guilty so why bother with the evidence. Unless you are prepared to stand up in court it's not relevant.

It wasn't a court. It was a confirmation hearing.

Of course we all know, don't we, that witness intimidation works and that many guilty people get off as a consequence.

The mafia have used such tactics for decades. Now who I wonder has been compared to a mob boss? Ah yes, it was Donald Trump. Anyone surprised?

What isn't unusual is a response which does nothing to counter the arguments but instead seeks to negatively categorise them with insults.

And I am accused of not engaging with the arguments!

When you wear blinkers, you only see what you want.

Did you watch the hearing? If so what did you see that I didn't?

It wasn't just what she said that was compelling, or indeed on it's own, that important. He could easily have brushed it off by apologising, saying it was over stated and misremembered teenage antics and asking people to consider his record as a man, a father and a Judge. But no, he went full on Trump and took the blanket denial route, which given the authenticity of the witness made him look like a liar.
