Oh, I thought he was cutting edge with an openness to using technology and sports science. As you pointed out earlier in this thread. As for getting the best out of players, those players were inherited by Hodgson and were bottom of the table with no points or even goals when he took over. Parish backed Allardyce in the market in a big way at the time and that's a contributory reason for the lack of spend over the last 3 seasons. I do think the brand of football under Hodgson, which I will be the first to admit has not been entertaining for the most part, is clouding people's judgement of him. I concur with these sentiments.

Missed the point entirely, probably willful ignorance again. Its pointless explaining things if your going to be petty. Yes, it was tough for Hodgson taking over a team who'd lost their first 4 games after a brilliant finish to the season before then were bolstered by the recruitment RLC, Reidewald, Sakho, TFM, and had AWB break through. Again, willful ignorance of the bigger picture. How did he manage it! Let's face it, wasn't a particularly difficult task. I thing Hodgson’s results are over the last 11 months are the main thing clouding peoples judgement.

And it's not being '' petty '' it's being factual. I think that's where you're struggling.

Eddie Howe would be a good bet not Allardyce although other than Wilf and Eze it is an aging squad that needs rebuilding but we have no money and therefore I can’t see anyone decent being interested in the job.

I have already made comments apropos the ageing squad, lack of resale value the re-build that is necessary without a significant injection of funds. It is a "Hard sell" to a prospective manager - "You have to rebuild the squad with several new additions, here is £10 Million and by the way your sole target is to stay in the PL or YOU'RE FIRED" !!!!.

Judging by history there may be someone out there who would take on a three year contract only to be sacked after four games, their bank balance a few million to the good...

It was in January earlier this year when Roy was continually pressed about whether he would extend his contract beyond last season.

I think your comments are always pretty reasonable, but that's a glass half empty approach. Given the state the club has been in when we have previously been looking for managers, I'd say that its possible to argue that the club has never been a better proposition, certainly since CPFC2010 took over (even though the bar is pretty low). We've still got Eze, Zaha, Mitchell, a Cat 1 academy, balanced finances, stable ownership, a new stand coming soon, a stable premier league club. (I may have over egged these points but you'll catch my drift). There's a number of players under performing and a manager that's seemingly run out of ideas is a great opportunity for someone to come in with fresh ideas and give everyone a bit of a lift. Many prospective managers with a point to prove could by eyeing up Crystal Palace thinking that its a real opportunity to make a name for themselves.
