I thought Kelly was a decent CB, a has more pace than the others i know he picked up a knock but was on the bench most of time before that

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

I'd go with this Tomkins and Cahill. Thought he was ok after obvious error. Knows when to launch it/put it out. Got to work with what we've got and we need to settle on a pair. Obvious risk is injury.
Wish I was suggesting Woods but nobody really knows how good he is.
Dann to Fulham if they still want him. Think he's still on around £55K. Shame but he's too slow. Last injury and age have caught up.

He has generally looked good in the U23 matches I've watched this season, certainly better than he's looked in previous years Hopefully we'll get a chance to see how he copes in the cup game against Wolves if Hodgson is willing to give him the opportunity.

Tompkins has a horse running tomorrow in Riyadh called Rohaan it has a chance I took 15/2. A bit of a fun bet I hope its not as fragile as its owner.

A nice story. I remember back in 1997 & 1998 the fantastically named Selhurstparkflyer trained by Jack Berry winning the Wokingham two years running. I was on both times at 25-1 and 20-1 at modest stakes of a fiver each way.

And me great days.

My mate knew the co-owner who was also a minor club director hence the name.

Unfortunately Tompkins horse finished nowhere so I lost the bet.

I remember that horse. Always used to look out for him running. I I had a tenner each way on that 1997 win but had managed to get him at 33/1... I was 18 at the time so thought all my Xmases had cone at once with that win!!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

My memory must be going I thought it was Epsom Derby day (twice) but I could be wrong. Note it was a race on derby day not THE DERBY.

The Wokingham was on the friday of Royal Ascot in those days. The horse also ran in the six furlong handicap at Epsom on Derby day a couple of weeks before.

I think it was Derby day in 98 (I was there) that it p!ssed up in that race as well at odds of about 9-1. I stupidly backed something else and felt as sick as dog watching it lead from start to finish. A couple of Chelsea supporting mates had backed it and were battering me which made it ten times worse.

Blimey this thread has brought back memories. I was at Epsom that day and had £1 ew Yankee on a 9/2 winner of the first, High Rise at 20/1 who won the Derby another winner at 6/1 who’s name I forget. The last race was where SelhurstPark Flyer won. I unfortunately had back my mates uncles horse Go Hever Golf as 20/1. It of course came nowhere whereas SHP Flyer lead the whole race. I won just over a grand, but it Go Hever Golf had won it would have been over 25 grand, and if I had stuck SelhurstPark Flyer in it would have been over 12 grand. What might have been.

I don't follow the gee gees, but I'm sure I remember all this happening on the same day in 1996:-

The Derby
Selhurstparkflyer won at Epsom
England v Switzerland, the opening match of the Euros
Mrs YT's 30th birthday

Not necessarily in order of importance!
