"Dover is once again beset by miles of traffic jams.... not because of brexit, but because of Brussels bureaucracy & red tape".

Of all people, the Tory MP for Dover Natalie Elphicke.

Its not of course caused by our membership of the EU, which allowed us to trade seamlessly with Europe, but brexit itself which re-installed all the bureaucracy we previously had, with knobs on.

Facing ridicule she continued with her failed Thatcher impression and Johnson immediately agreed with her.

Don't you understand? Brexit was never about common sense, trade, or the need to make people's lives better. It was all about sovereignty and "taking back control". So that every mess we find ourselves in is ours and cannot be blamed on anyone else.

It was about the majority of those who voted expressing a political view that you did not and do not agree with.

It's because Brussels has decided to play hard ball with us these restrictions are purely their invention and are not required.

Brussels alienating one of their biggest trading partners may not be a smart move and is largely being driven by Macron for his own domestic difficulties.

Already UK trade outside of the EU has grown significantly especially in the area of produce don't believe me just look where your fruit and veg is coming from next time you are in a supermarket.

Brussels can continue to play the hard man but sooner or later their farmers and politicians will realise that we are not importing as much of their stuff as we used to.

Brexit did not have to be this difficult it has been because of the "has been's" in Brussels.

Russia’s top diplomat since 2004, said on Thursday the British side was unresponsive to the Kremlin's point of view.

“I’m rather disappointed that meeting Miss Truss is a bit like talking to a deaf person,” he said.

“It’s like they’re listening to us but not hearing.”

He is obviously in tune with post-brexit Britain.

No surprise there then.

This is the Brexit apologists way of spinning the situation. That politicians would behave politically could have been, should have been and was, anticipated. France was never going to make things easy for us. The EU as a whole don't want other waverers encouraged.

Food imports from all over the world isn't new. If we are actually importing more then it won't be because they are cheaper for us. It will be because they can be obtained by air and in no danger of spoiling in lorry queues. We just pay the price which, as you will have noticed, is going up. A lot.

I have yet to see a single Brexit benefit, but many negatives. I cannot detect any on the horizon either.

The brass nosed Brexiteer will continue in denial forever, convinced being able to manage poverty ourselves is better than sharing prosperity with others. Those who were always 50:50ish won't be so sanguine. The mood is already changing, and it ain't going to shift the other way.

Because no one expected any teething troubles after Brexit.

Get a grip.

We should just surrender to Brussels because they want to punish us.
You obviously didn't inherit any of the Dunkirk spirit.

So a good reason for staying in the EU is France and the others wont be nasty to us?

You should think about that, it's like the East Germans building a wall to keep their people in.

Being afraid to be bullied by the EU was and is never a reason to not leave in fact is shows just what a bunch of C units they are.

The EU has behaved badly all the way through this process and yet you prefer to blame our politicians and laud theirs.

I don't want Scotland to leave the union but if they do I hope the UK behaves a lot better and fairer to them because one day they might change their mind and come back.

There is no change of us rejoining the EU whilst they behave the way they are now.

If these are the teething problems I hate to think what it's going to be like when we hit nappy training, "the terrible twos" or, heaven forbid, early teenage.

The Dunkirk Spirit didn't solve our problems. Only the Normandy landings did that, and we couldn't manage them alone. We needed to work with others. As we must now. Including the French.
