Many politicians are genuinely motivated by a desire to serve. I have met enough to know that. Being careful with what they say is not unusual. It's not only diplomats who are expected to "lie on behalf of their country".

Better than Trump? As I have said many times almost anyone else with a modicum of compassion and wisdom would be better than Trump. Mickey Mouse would be better.
