I'm sorry, but although we won, that was turgid and dull and all the time we were 1-0 up, Mateta was never going to get his debut. In fact it was not working all the time Batshyuai was on the pitch, yet unless we were losing, Roy was never going to sub him. He did after we went in the lead, but only brought Townsend to shore up the game.

It was still beyond dull. Mateta will only end up making a few appearances from the bench this season if he is lucky. We are treading water under Hodgson.

I get where you’re coming from and also Wolves looked awful.

TBH however a rare win and clean sheet which were desperately needed leave me in the kind of mood to just not care about anything else even if only for today.

We still have more crucial games coming up and I’d be happy to win them all in the manner we did today however should we struggle to pick up points, a win against a Wolves side in their worst form since being promoted won’t paper over the cracks.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

With all these "poor" teams around Palace will be fine this season.

Definitely not. We were our usual s***e but luckily that was one of the worst performances from an opposition team Ive seen for a long time.
Batshuayi I thought was appalling so look forward to seeing him or his useless mate start against Newcastle and Jairo didn't put a foot wrong with excellent vision, movement and passing, don't think he gave it away once so look forward to him sitting on the bench against Newcastle.

We've been on a poor run with some worrying performances, particularly defensively, and you shouldn't underestimate what a 1-0 win does psycologically for the players compared with another defeat.

The commentators made a point about Wolves generally being strong defensively and Chelsea failed to beat them the other night.

Spot on! And failed to score against them with all their expensive attacking resources!

Unfortunately, some people are never happy. This game reminded me of our win at their ground a couple of years back (living in the W Midlands, it was almost a home game). That night Wolves didn't know what to do because we wouldn't give them the space they thrive on. We weren't as good today as we were then but we did the job and completed our third clean sheet in five league games, which bodes well for the upcoming games.
