The first goal was a little unfortunate, a bit of worldy which you cannot really legislate for. The second one we got caught on the break pressing for the equaliser, when I thought we were just getting on top. The third one was in stoppage time once it was all over. The scoreline didn't reflect how well we played, 30% possession, 3 shots, 0 on target. On the plus side, Mateta looked very sharp during the 9 minutes he was on the pitch, which bodes well for the future. And good to see Andros back to his very best, only giving the ball away 15 times this week. We move on to Leeds at the weekend." Thanks Roy, look forward to catching up with you next time.

Utter tosh and balderdash.

1-2 to the Palace Newcastle find it harder to put pressure on the visitors without their fans.

Let’s see what team we put out and what formation we go with on Tuesday night.

Is the correct answer. I waited until I saw our team for the Wolves game before predicting a 1-0 win for us (on the team for Wolves thread). Had Hodgson gone for the team that played Hammers (with perhaps just a couple of changes) I'd have gone for a draw at best. So, I want to see who's going to play before daring to predict the score.

Draw all day long. I’ll go for 1-1. We won’t give them the room they had against Everton.

They were tenacious against Everton, something I haven’t seen from Newcastle this season and St Maximin is fit again now, so I can see him tearing one of our full backs apart.

Tough one to call this and our record is poor up there so I’m hoping for a draw, but fear they will run us off the pitch if they show the effort they have recently.

Palace to play 4-2-3-1 starting with Jairo and Benteke.
I predict a game that won't be at all pleasing on the eye and a 1-1 draw, as this type of fixture often is - but that's ok if we pick up points.

Mateta to come on after 70 minutes.

A decent point away from home although Newcastle are playing very badly.

Should be an interesting few days at the bottom of the table. Sheffield Utd and/or WBA to pick up points and BHA very unlikely to get anything against Liverpool.

A win could see us get to the point were we start looking up the table rather than down.

Their current form is not great (nor is ours) but they are definitely going backwards of late but having said that we are just the club to help out a club in a bad run. The only certainty is that Mateta won't start but hopefully we will keep with the same plan as Saturday especially as the front three are under 30. 1-2 in our favour

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Newcastle were positive for the first time in a long time and it paid off; however, Everton had a lot of chances thanks to the Toon's higher line. If they play the same way again we could have some joy on the break.

I think we'll surprise people and win 3-0.

My thinking exactly, and it possibly means Bats starting. He was awful against a deep Wolves defence because he had to play with his back to goal, but give him some space to run into and we may see the best of him.

Can't see Tekkers in that formation. He's too much of a donkey and would be offside too often. But Hodgson is likely to prove me wrong and go and play it with Benteke as the '1'.
