Being linked with a move to Real Sociedad, with his contract expiring in the summer. Albeit via a Spanish paper, not any quotes from the player.

I'm a big fan of his and would like him to stay. However, if it's a choice between getting a few million now and playing Butland for the rest of the season, or letting him leave on a free, it's a tricky choice.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Butland is an excellent keeper. I have been a bit disappointed with Guaita recently as he has stopped commanding his box. Excellent shot stopper with amazing reflex saves but not so good at taking crosses.

I was shot down recently for posting that he wanted to go home to Spain. I was told he was happy here. I heard the opposite.

We have the option of extending his contract for another year, apparently. He will be up there for POTY if we carry on the way we're going so I see no point in letting him go as we wouldn't get much of a fee at his age. Butland looks like Hennessey to me: big, slow and not overly confident.

It's 28 January. He's our first choice keeper. He is not leaving with only a few days of the window left.

We are leaking goals at the moment and whilst he has been let down by some poor defending, he has also made the sort of errors which saw other keepers destroyed on here.

We have so many players out of contract in the summer that there will be debate and some may be picked off by other clubs.

He's nowhere near our player of the year.

As good asGuita is at shot stopping. His overall game is not great to say the least.

San Sebastian, lovely city. Can hardly blame him if he wants to return to Spain. Sociedad are currently 6th in La Liga.
From Palace's point of view Butland appears an adequate replacement.

Seems there's more to the rumour . . .

So, IF this all happens, who will No1, Butland or Romero? Seems Wayne's time is up (when he recovers from his injury).

As an aside, congrats to Dean Kiely, he's just been appointed RoI goalkeeping coach.

Listened to Schmeichel last night, like his dad, shouting out instructions to hiss defence. Cannot remember the last time we had a keeper who did a bit more than being a good shot stopper.

I disagree that people think he hasn't been doing very well.

Look at the awful defending lately, the possession given to the other teams, the 70% of every game in our own half ( that's me being generous) and the amount of shots at our goal in comparison. God help any keeper to constantly have to be on full alert for 80+ mins because his team mates consistantly cannot pass more than twice without losing the ball or make bizarre decisions to pass back to him from the opposing half not to mention trying to dribble out of our penalty area (Kouyate yesterday or the many times Sakha has done it.). He isn't perfect by a stretch but he's better than oa lot of keepers out there. I'm not sure what the love in is with Butland or what warrants it...frankly nobody has seen enough oof him.

If there is any truth in that Romero rumour I would be very pleased. Always thought he was massively underrated and a great keeper, would be no1 for me by a stretch.

Guaita is a great shot stopper, but does not command his area and looks weak coming for crosses. I'm hesitant to criticise him too much but by the same token do not think he is a superman I get the impression others think he is.

Not seen enough of Butland to comment on his suitability to be no1 or replace Guaita in starting XI.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!
