I do find it difficult to understand why we have loaned players out recently with our injuries to the first team squad? Banks, Wood and Kirby may not be ready yet or may never be good enough for the prem but the squad is so thin that they would help strengthen it and who knows they could even show they can be good enough if given game time?

No he didn't. He said that he wasn't going to take youngsters up to Leeds for them to sit on the bench if he wasn't likely to bring them on. You might interpret that as their not being good enough, whereas it's more likely that Hodgson knew he had at least 3 1st team players on the bench he would call upon before he would consider a youngster, so why go through the aggro of getting youngsters tested so they could switch bubbles to go on a 400 mile return journey just to freeze on the bench for a couple of hours.

And let's face it Roy isn't exactly renowned for taking a chance on a youngster. He has his usual same old subs he uses.

Ok, that sounds reasonable to me. Thanks for clarifying.

Even when they have been loaned out they have about 25 appearances in total. For instance Woods is 22 been with the club since 2018 and has played 4 games on loan !? Tammy Abraham had played 100 plus games on loan by that age at a higher level. Unfair comparison but makes the point that if they go out on loan and don't appear in lower leagues it might be an indicator that they just are not up to it ?

We've had an injury crisis since the days of Alan Pardew. Not sure what changed in the backroom because the timing doesn't really add up with changes of staff but this has been going on for a loooong time.

In my opinion Woods offers as much as Dann, and Banks offers more than Townsend. I don't think Kirby is good enough, although he will have a career in the lower leagues.
Woods needs work on the positioning in our system and the issue with Banks is that he's a left midfielder/winger. He can play on the right but it's not natural to him.
I've always liked Townsend and Dann but both look a yard off the pace these days and playing these young players, who are decent players, would be a far better option. Amongst other things, they can at least run.
Matthews looks excellent when I've seen him, but he looks like a 10, which we never use.

One day, we will have a manager who is not frightened to filter youth into the side. It doesn’t have to be a teenager takeover, just 1 or 2 to give a bit of energy to the side.

Given the way we are playing we might as well field the groundsmen and office staff. It wouldn't affect our performance or the results.

Wickham, Ferguson, Sakho and Hennessey should be omitted from the list as they are not in the squad or haven't played for us yet or for a long time. Of the others all will be missed which brings us to the next point why so many and is it down to training, age or just bad luck. Only Wilf is under 30 of the the remainder so imo it's down to bringing in low shelf life players and expecting them to play regularly or hoping that there will always be two or more fit players around. This is one that can't be blamed on Roy I believe.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Every Saturday the Times publishes a table of individuals missing matches through injury.

Last week Palace was way in front followed at a distance by Liverpool.

It is not really relevant as our squad is much of a mediocre muchness and there is only one player who matters - Zaha.

Without him we never score goals and usually lose.

How is it possible for fans to not have known our injury problems?
Does this now mean that the fans who didn't know but now do and who wanted our manager gone because we do with these injuries included have the oldest squad in the league along with many of them who simply have never or have lost the art of being able to pass the bloody ball to one of their mates understand the problems our manager is actually having and actually now appreciate and have some sympathy for him or are they still mad at him for not having his team four points higher up the table and in tenth place lol?

To be honest the club has been making the right movements in trying to sort this problem out, lets see how Mateta can play at home against Burnley without palm oil under his feet lol
