If this is true then we will miss him. We have had a whole team plus a sub at times missing from the squad, He has had misfiring strikers, midfielders that can't tackle or pass, defenders that can't run, no big money buys and still he is keeping us in the top flight and occasionally dealing out bloody noses to the big boys.

Even keeping him on as general manager (an old term) for a month so we can say goodbye to one of our own is a must.

Obviously the crowd would be reduced by half a dozen anti Roys but I could handle that.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course).

Isn't it the way, six dimwits, a vocal minority annoying the rest of us.

IMO the thing that's most underrated about his tenure is how he's had us safe with a few games to go (hopefully that continues to be the case this year) and the stability and lack of crisis management that brings.

i know its been ugly at times, but he is doing the job he is paid for and has been asked to do, which is not to play sexy football but to maintain our PL membership. He has succeeded every year.
I think he done a good job, but that not to say I want to see the status quo continue, I don't. I would like a young manager with young players - a couple of the old and wise of course. Cahill, for eg, has taken some stick, but to me the guy is a role model. At his age he puts some of the younger players to shame with fitness and attitude.
We should buy Roy a HOL carriage clock!

Following Palace since 25 Feb 1978

Heres an honest question for you all..
Whilst I most certainly apprecaite retaining our prem. status, at the hands of steady Roy, say he was 10 plus years younger, and he was to stay that ten further years, would you want to see another 10 years of what we've had over the last few years.
What kills me is the cup games, thrown to the wind.
As the thread title states, gratitude to Roy, for sure for staying up again, but the style of footy..

Kids, tired of being bothered by your pesky parents?
Then leave home, get a job & pay your own bills, while you still know everything.

Honestly, no. Just seems a pity if fans have no opportunity to show appreciation for what he's done for our club.

It's become stale. Same manager for four years and a low turnover of players during the same time.

With regard to the cup games we've never been home and hosed at the early stages and generally had a thin squad. The fringe players given their chance in the cup games haven't taken it and justified the manager's Premier League team selection IMO.

We did make the QF of the FA Cup in 2018/19 under Hodgson but the squad were a couple of years younger and fitter then.

To be fair to Hodgson we had an injury nightmare when we played Bournemouth in this season's League Cup and he did put out a fairly strong side at Wolves in the FA Cup.

I'll nip out and buy a card tomorrow if you all want to sign it. I'll also be having a whip-round so we can buy him a carriage clock from H.Samuels.

We'll all walk into his office and surprise him holding plastic glasses full of Lambrini.

He'll probably make a speech along the lines of 'I'm really going to miss all of you' whilst thinking 'thank feck I'll never have to clap eyes on that bunch of w@nkers again' and trying to keep his false smile going.

That's a nice idea. I'm sure he'd like that.
