The only time I was ever in Bognor it wasn't for very long, I just remember a rather grand bus stop on the promenade as a kid, but something tells me they'd have some excellent fish and chips there, it's just a hunch but it might be worth checking out.

Harry Ramsden, facing the Pier, has been put out of its misery (pleased to say)
its now a fish restuarant a bit more upmarket than Harrys was.
theres a 2 chippys just to the side of it.
As others have mentioned, Chipwick is very good, but can involve a fair que.
If youre driving away from the front, my local chippy in Goring is very good

crabshack has a good rep, but proper sea food not a chippy.
fairly spoilt for chippys down here (& curry houses !)
Worth a visit is the 50s style retro cafe in Marine gardens (facing the kids playground on the west end of sea front)

There are some areas along the coast which are far from salubrious, but in my 'Neck of the woods' there are three private estates with mansions worth millions and celebrities have been seen on the local beach.
