Watched in a pub knowing I was in court in a couple of days time looking a couple of years. Child on the way too. Glad I’m older and wiser now. Brilliant goal, one of the best we have probably ever scored m, even better considering the circumstances. COYP

I was on holiday at the time and didn't know the scores in the last two games and found them in the local paper which was on the mat with the mini mountain of mail. I had been pretty morose most of the time and had no access to scores (pre mobile phones and internet). Happy days and thanks for letting us know.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

Wow 20 years ago! Remember it so well. Couldn't get tickets for the Palace end so had to go into the Stockport end to watch the match. When Dougie scored I had to bit my own fist not to go nuts.....drew blood.

I was fortunate enough to be there, can't believe it was 20 years ago though. Cracking goal too. I went with a few work mates, I was only an apprentice at the time. I always remember returning to the boozer we'd had a few in before the game, after we'd won. Let's say the Stockport fans were less than welcoming afterwards! What an absolute s***ehole of a place. Great memories though.

wow this makes me feel old. Was listening on the radio at University wearing every bit of Palace kit/merch I owned for good luck, drinking a bottle of whisky. Funny how these things trigger memories - I remember I was feeling sheepish that day because I'd smashed the window of the back door of my student house the night before in a show of immature drunken idiocy, and was avoiding my housemates. Was living in Thailand at the time and listened to JP's commentary in some dodgy internet shop in Pattaya. Those were the days!

I agree with you totally about Pearce on the radio. If ever his commentary overlapped a TV broadcast I used to turn the TV sound off and listen to him. He was obviously told to tone down when he moved to BBC TV. Shame.
