One of the (many) changes I would like to see is a requirement for all MP's to have been resident in the areas they are trying to represent for a period of say 5 years.

I can understand that argument, but don't see that as particularly important in representing your constituents in this age of transient populations. Michael Foot was embedded in the old Welsh seat of his hero Aneurin Bevan and adored by his constituents, yet in reality he was a Hampstead intellectual.

Conversely, Mrs T was a shopkeeper's daughter from the East Midlands, but serving Finchley for all those years instilled in her a life-long admiration for Jewish people.

Labour already spinning on this like it is lost. Apparently, George Galloway's fault as he is planning to stand and they think he will attract a significant % of the areas Muslim vote.

Poor Labour. First, they sacrifice white working-class girls, and by default the white working-class vote, by way of trying to secure Muslim support and now Galloway, apparently, is going to swan in and steal those.

LOL.

well you cannot please all the people all the time.

This adds interest. I like George in that he is consistent in his views many of which I don't agree with but some I do.

Interesting as to whether he is technically married to no. 4.

If he runs he will take votes and give Starmer/Labour an excuse for defeat.

Naz Shah who ousted him in Bradford West is the most appalling racist and rape gang apologist

He is the finest British orator of the modern age. Nobody comes close. And much like yourself, I would disagree with him on many things but he is a man I never tire of listening to.

And his expose of Tony Blair and his involvement in the murky going on's around what happened to Libya is outstanding.

In 1967, when Polish mercenary Rafal Ganowicz was asked what it felt like to take human life, replied: "I wouldn't know, I've only ever killed communists."

Wouldn't go " finest orator of the modern age ", but,
I like his straight forward approach and he is well researched and knowledgeable, not unlike JRM in many ways albeit different views.

I think Westminster would be better for having more GG's

I agree. My local MP was Francis Maude ( awful bloke), he moved to the area when elected ( well moved to a mega pad well away from the riffraff). As soon as he stepped down, not seen for dust

Agreed.

Galloway is mostly a throwback to Foot or Benn. I don't think his politics leads to outcomes I want but I recognise that the beliefs are genuinely held and I have time for that.

As a speaker he's up amongst the best of his political generation, maybe the best.

is she the one who told the girl rape victims that they should ''put up and shut-up for the sake of diversity'' ?

its interesting when Labour lets the mask slip from time to time.

She liked a tweet that said that, once she received criticism she unliked it.

Labour's protective stance towards immigrant communities (which the Tories now support) forms a significant part of why these rapes were allowed to continue for decades. Their activists and anti racism propaganda produced fear in institutions....whose leaders would agree with the activists.

Saying it's rapes for votes would be going too far but Labour and now the Tory's obsession over racism led to this outcome.

An estimated over seventy grooming gangs still operate in this country. Just how much concern are either party showing in this issue?

The victims are left to the wolves.

It is a struggle to get interested in by-elections or think that politicians cannot do anything other than make things worse generally.

If Starmer loses here he is 'toast' according to the DA.

Opening the door for Burnham.

So there may well not be a labour revival here, rather a hope that his non-opposition will be gone.

Burnham, 'Mr Prevent' himself.

No doubt that would make Blair very happy.
