It is quite something to witness the mess Labour have got themselves into.

That said, it is at least democratic. When they changed their elective rules it meant that the grass roots effectively got their man/woman/non binary thing.

The kind of people who join political parties pretty much all have a passion for something or other whereas the average joe/joan just listens to whatever the media tells them and doesn't have that much interest in politics other than whatever the family culture is thinking and maybe what's happening in their direct area.

Labour were always going to travel further to the left once Miliband changed the rules and it was always going to take them further away from Joe/Joan.....So unless they had the media in their pocket they had no chance....and while they have the telly they don't have enough of the newspapers, because the capitalists aren't Turkeys voting for Christmas.

The Tories on the other hand aren't as democratic as Labour...what is it? The membership only get a say on the last two remaining candidates......so instead of reflecting their paying grass roots the Tories mostly take them for granted (the old house price Tory) knowing they traditionally fear Labour governments and so relying on this they have taken a large bulk of Labour's social policies to hoover up the wishy washy centralists who think, 'Labour mean well but have gone too far'.

Quite cynical and something I deeply oppose but the results have been effective for them.

The labour candidate is typical of the type of person I would like to see in parliament.

The problem is, if she wins, we are stuck with Starmer, someone I would not like to be in parliament at all.

If Labour hold it then Starmer, probably, limps on. But to what? Genuinely see him as a dead man walking, no matter what happens with the only question being the when.

And who replaces him? Rayner makes for good headlines but really?

Lousy journalism regarding the Labour candidate.

I have just read about 6 articles all say she is Joe Cox's sister and she is the candidate that the Tories fear but almost nothing about her.

I hope there is more to her than being the sister of a murdered MP but until the journalists can be bothered to write a mini bio we wont know.

She was selected purely on the basis of DNA. That is it. They even had to change their own rules because she had not been in the Labour Party for at least a year before she was selected.

It is pure sentimentality. Emotional blackmail. A sign of just how broken Labour are.

All to desperately try and hold a seat in a by-election. After 10 years plus of a Tory regime.

Never in all my life (and rather longer than that) has the political landscape looked so thoroughly grim.

Any of the possibles to replace Starmer are simply too horrific to contemplate. At this rate, the f*cking Tories are going to be in power forever.

Let's see SP and the board trying to line up for a piss in the AW toilets at half time before peddling the new stand. We're the Arthur over here and the facilities are a disgrace

Question now is, when Labour lose will Starmer go ?

Novara Media youtube is a handy way to see what the loons are up to. Their view is Starmer losing support from both left and right of Labour so is dead man walking.

Let's get Angela Rayner in as leader to give Labour the coup de grāce

Novara is actually quite informative. Yes, they get the most important parts totally wrong, and are hosted by all the usual suspects but in terms of wanting to know what the enemy are thinking, then definitely worth keeping on the Radar. They do, on occasion, offer some interesting analysis.

Seen/read it put about of late that when the move does come against Starmer is might actually come from the Right of the Party. Would make sense because I would suppose what they dread more then anything is the Left successfully deposing him and then getting the likes of Rayner or Long-Bailey into the leaders chair.

Problem is though, who is there on the Blairite side of the Labour Party to take over? The Lefts candidates are bad enough but at least they are there.

Nandy? Possibly?
