Farewell Roy, a true gent and a remarkably successful manager of our club. He may be recognised as a legend.

Thanks Roy.

The negative stuff about Roy has been said elsewhere, so right now I'd like to thank Roy for keeping us in the PL whilst the Academy was coming along. It can't be coincidence that Roy is stepping aside when so many player's contracts are expiring - the rebuild is a big task for whoever the next manager may be.
Perhaps Roy will end up back at WBA, there's a challenge he'd take on I think.

I echo the sentiments but if you are going to cut and paste get the mans name right...

I am pleased that Roy has as such been allowed to leave on his own terms and through the front door, with dignity and with his head held high.
I wanted him to go at the end of this season and so it has come to pass.
He has however done a great job for us and the positives outweigh the negatives without a doubt.
The next stage of our journey awaits - a new Manager and a new squad.
It will be an exciting few months!

Nicely put. It will be an interesting summer for sure!

Hodgson's points per game per pounds spent will be near impossible to beat, and the benefits of his work must not be squandered. I honestly think that in years to come when we discuss the best ever Palace managers Roy will be given an honourable mention by most, partly because we just haven't had too many that really made their mark or stayed very long, but also because time will show what a great job he's done.

His tactics are conservative, but also realistic. I disagree with those who feel that the current squad were capable of significantly more, and feel that the frustration many have felt (me included) at watching such dour football should be aimed at the awful economics of modern football, rather than at Roy. His appointment, methods and results showed a truth many of us are still uncomfortable with - a club our size cannot stay in this league playing good football unless it has a lot more luck with it's recruitment. On that front, Roy is the messenger that some wanted to shoot.

Finally, I appreciate that to some the manner of the man carries less weight than the way his team plays, but even when I thought he was the wrong man for England I still placed great value in him being an articulate, cultured, polite and honest gentleman.

Someone on here asked once if we would rather be managed by a gentleman who played dour football, or an areshole who played good football. I repeat my response - at Palace, the football will always be dour - the choice is whether you want a gentleman or an areshole providing it. I'd take Roy over Pulis and Allardyce every day of the week.

Thank you Roy for all you have done for this football club, we would not be enjoying our longest run in PL without your expertise and dedication. You will be a hard act to follow and the club and most its supporters will truly miss you!

Thanks Roy for all your hard work and the good times but it is certainly time to go. We have been stagnating and as a result have had to endure some of the dullest uninspiring ‘football’ I’ve ever seen us play.

Looking forward with relish to the new management and their assembled squad.

I don't see why we should give Lampard experience and let him use us as a stepping stone, no way he would be more than short term. I just sense the Parish congenital desire to have ex footballers as mates (sic ).

In that respect Frank would be a major upgrade on DF and Brighty in terms of football pedigree.

Does anybody think Lampard wants to spend years building a team at Palace hoping we have an outlier season and get into the top seven once or even twice in ten years.

The question you asked in the third paragraph was answered more than adequately in the first.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Happy long retirement Roy in whatever you choose to do, a true gentleman to the end of his managerial career.
He has kept us in the Premier league inspite of limited resources and overseen the transformation of what is now a top academy, what more can you ask for, thanks Roy,in my book a 100% Palace legend.
