Many thanks to Roy Hodgson and his service over the last 4 years as Crystal Palace manager. There were ups and downs, great performances and dire ones but the most important thing was the consistency of premier league status which when he took over, was in serious threat of not being maintained. I wish him all the best in his future endeavours, and would love to have him work with club if he so chooses in the future in the board level. Lastly I wish I was able to attend tomorrow's game against Arsenal to give him a proper send off but I am sure those Palace supporters in attendance will do him that dignity and I will certainly applaud him from home too! Congratulations Roy and well deserved tenure at Palace!

I liked the earlier quote of Hodgson as a broadsheet in a tabloid world. So very apt, indeed So my message to Roy: A big thank you Roy and it's great that you are going out the front door so to speak. I note you say it's time "to step away from the rigours of top-flight Premier League football". Does that mean you might have a shot at getting the Baggies (or even Fulham) back up again? Or has your better half decided that you should celebrate your golden wedding somewhere other than on a football pitch? Either way, enjoy the next stage of life and if that doesn't include managing a football team, find something interesting to keep those 'little grey cells' working.

Thanks Roy for all your hard work and the good times but it is certainly time to go. We have been stagnating and as a result have had to endure some of the dullest uninspiring ‘football’ I’ve ever seen us play. Looking forward with relish to the new management and their assembled squad. I'm seem to remember similar comments from some Charlton A supporters when they were last in PL lets hope we are not heading the same way!

I would like to join the vast majority of others on this thread thanking "Sir" Roy Hodgson not just for his service to our club, but to his country and to Football in general. It has been our privilege to see his philosophy in action, and I am grateful for what he has done in stabilising the club, and at the same time helping two bring forward the youngsters. I will not be using this thread to speculate on future management, but I am hoping the Directors will not delay a decision, as IMHO any club in this position needs continuity of management in the close season in preparation for August. Just sorry that in this last season we weren't able to be at the ground as much as we would have liked to have given more vocal support to both the team and Roy. Best wishes for the future to Roy and his family.

I hope we find a manager with these qualities together with Roy's football knowledge. There are plenty of manager's who might be good in the short term but not sure there are many who are capable of doing 4 years at one club in the premiership and been successful in their objectives on a tight budget. We will miss him and Ray Lewington. I couldn't have said it better. Thank you for your service Roy & Ray.

Roy has done a good job however many of his favourite players have failed to get out of first gear this season. I also think having so many players out of contract gives a new manager a great opportunity to build a team in his own image. Edited by Ouzo Dan (18 May 2021 2.36pm)
