Humble pie from me, i got it wrong, sorry bout that about team selection.

Odd seeing PVA playing for Holland yet we let him go.

OK, England winning 1-0, but how can anyone defend the 2 Sirs (Rashford and Sterling - yeah, I know he scored the winner) playing while Tony Grealish was left on the bench?

Yep. If England won a championship, I would swap it for 3 points for the Palace

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I Wans't a big fan of that starting lineup but I must admit, Stirling did justify his selection - he had a good game. I just dont get the Fullbacks though. Walker and Tripper? Walker was terrible from minute 1. he was good as the pace in the back 3 system we played last time out, just don't see why he was selected. If you Want to play Trippier for his experience and set piece delivery, just Play him at RB, and Shaw or Chilwell at LB. They must have been perplexed as to how both were left out.

I was expecting some major changes at 60 mins, but they didn't come(I guess coz we'd just scored) - we've got some great game changing talent on the bench, in fact our squad is probably one of the strongest in the tournament. We need to use it to our advantage. Take a lesson from Rugby's book - use starters and finishers. To be able to inject 3-4 new players like Grealish, Bellingham + Rashford at 60 mins is a major bonus. especially 'in that heat'.

Overall we played OK. First 20 mins was excellent. Looking at other teams, like Italy + Belgium we're still a way off the movement and fluidity needed.

The Holland/Ukraine game was a good one - Holland look as entertaining as ever, attacking and beatable and Ukraine look very dangerous, wouldn't want to come up against them.

It's a long tournament after a very long season and the selection will have been calculated using every tech known to man to ensure the "right" team plays each game and the resources are spread to cover the entire tournament.

I am glad England are finally doing that rather than fielding a team selected by a media-led FA committee.

Moreover, the tournament doesn't really start until the knock-out stage and we do not need to commit our best flare players this early, especially JACK Grealish who competes will Wilf as the nation's piñata.

Grealish will get his game, as will every outfield player in the squad.

As far as I know, he wouldn't renew his contract.
