If there's one thing that really gets my goat at the moment, is idiots posting videos of themselves on internet, crying about something.

I recall that NHS nurse posting a video of her crying because she couldn't get any toilet roll from the shops. Boo-hoo.

I blame KK. The big girls blouse.

If she was crying over the number of people dying because they haven't had the jab it would be different but being sacked for putting other people's lives at risk through not being vaccinated is a good thing.

How do the unvaccinated put other people's lives at risk any more than vaccinated people, who can still carry the virus and infect other just as much?

Personally don’t mind the ‘look at me I’m crying’ type videos, although it depends on the circumstances. I think the NHS worker not being able to get food was appropriate and helped trigger the NHS staff priority hours at supermarkets which in my opinion was fair.

However, morons like this lady have been reading too many conspiracy theories and her action, of refusing the vaccine, is preventing society moving on. She gets zero sympathy from me. As I’m typing a BBC notification has popped up to say that all NHS frontline workers must be vaccinated - good. Hopefully this will become common in all workplaces.

I'm not sure how much of her whining was true though as the length of the shift that she had supposedly just finished was illegal and therefore probably a lie as was the claim that there was no food left on the shelves. There was always food on the shelves although perhaps not what she wanted which was somewhat different

Perhaps she should shed a tear for the 11,000 patients who went into hospital without COVID and died because of it.

My dad was recently in hospital we were not allowed to visit to protect him and others and I am fine with that but how many staff at that hospital are not vaccinated?

I think it was just exasperation on her part. During the shortages my local Sainsbury was useless and had very little however my local M&S was fine you could get everything. However I had not just completed a long shift and I had the time to wander around and find the supermarkets that were coping.

Last point, over the last few years we have had various food scares / shortages Sainsbury always runs out M&S seem to cope, I have no idea what business model Sainsbury is using but they need to change it.

One of my best pals is an NHS anaesthetist and a client of mine is a nurse in a private hospital and 18 hour shifts are common, but yes also illegal. It certainly goes on.

As for shopping I remember my holiday getting cut short due to covid and turning up to Tesco in Purley and all fruit, veg, bread, pasta, rice, dairy, tinned food and meat had gone. The shop was 90% empty. There was technically food available but it’s a tough gig after a long shift to have crackers and jam for dinner whilst selfish individuals were stock piling the ‘luxury’ items in their freezers. This went on for a few weeks.

The crying nurse had allegedly just finished a 48 hour shift

18 hour shifts are not illegal but being forced to work them is, they should be suitably recompensed. After working a long shift there should be a suitable rest period (11hrs with exceptions).

According to the Gov web site

You can’t work more than 48 hours a week on average - normally averaged over 17 weeks. This law is sometimes called the ‘working time directive’ or ‘working time regulations’.

You can choose to work more than 48 hours a week on average if you’re over 18. This is called ‘opting out’.

Your employer can ask you to opt out, but you can’t be sacked or treated unfairly for refusing to do so.

You can opt out for a certain period or indefinitely. It must be voluntary and in writing.
