The problem is at the end of the season we have to offer him a new contract if they want him to stay and it wont be 130k a week, so do you get 15/20 in Jan or wait until the summer and have a season of below par performances waiting for his free move

In the early part of the season I thought he looked as if he was getting his mojo back and he gave the impression he was actually enjoying his football.

However, in the last few matches he seems to be back to his petulant worst but without contributing much to the games.

I can't now see any club being willing to fork out much more than 20 million, particularly as he is now 29 years old. And it's unlikely to be a club in the top half of the table.

Agree with all of this and I think he’s realised he’s now not as good as he was when his teammates weren’t as good as the players coming in. He’s always deflected his poor performances and frustration and this is no different, and probably worse. Only few sportsmen get better by losing it. John McEnroe types mainly.

Kane is only one year younger and has glass ankles. He’s worth £100m plus according to some !

There was talk last season of Wilf being worth to Palace the same amount as remaining in the PL. Not any more.

We can remain in the PL without Wilf, but I am not certain anyone thought that at the start of the season.

To be fair they most certainly did. I and a few others have been advocating selling him for at least two seasons now. Ever since his ‘brothers’ pathetic failed attempt to get him a move that then saw Wilf replacing his agent. You’ve only got to look back over the various ‘Zaha’ threads to see the relevant comments.

In all honesty he is probably worth keeping now, as the fee we would get for him (unless NUFC offer silly money) would be negligible, especially taking into account the percentage of the transfer fee we would have to give to Man U. His current wages are way too much though so that would need to be addressed.

Still a good player but nothing like he used to be. Far too often this season he has been in-effective and also an embarrassment for a number 9f seasons now with his theatrics and moaning at all and sundry.

And as I mentioned in the Leeds v Palace thread…not a shred of acknowledgement to the travelling fans when he left the pitch at full time. This despite the players tunnel being right next to where we were sitting. Very poor show indeed.

I wish he would shoot more often from outside the box. He has got a hell of a ferocious shot on him and should have a go way more often.

He really hasn’t. Most of his scuffed shots are like back passes.

Comparing Kane and Zaha is ridiculous, one has been a top level performer for years , golden boots in major international tournaments, soon to be England’s record goal scorer . premier league top scorer in a team that creates far less chances than the real top teams.
The other chose the Ivory Coast, as he never got a look in for England. If he’s stayed with England I reckon he would have below 10 caps and has ever only been really rated by some in SE25 , as he was a bright spark in a very dull defensive team.
When people used to say we should give him his chance to play for Real Madrid /Barcelona in the champions league , it was soooo blinkered.
Decent palace player, but our best ever?? No chance.
Not even our best winger for me , although possibly our best ever whinger.

he's worth zero as he will leave on a Bosman in 18 months.

Can't see any other scenario

Sadly i think you are spot on , the 130k a week is the stumbling block

I think Parish is too clever to do that.

Zaha has 3 problems for finding another club

1) His wages
2) The Sell on Clause
3) Himself (ie his attitude)

When he signed this contract he should have known it was effectively for the rest of his career. He was badly advised or didn't take that advice

Zaha still has ability and is still an asset but is no longer worth 130k pw.

He has seen how other high earners were moved on or got reduced contracts so he has a dillema.

Does he try and negotiate an extension now and take slightly reduced wages till end of career or allow his contract to run down and either take at least a 50% reduction or test the market?. I think if he has any sense he will do the former and negotiate now. If he signs an extension He may get around 100k pw and security for an extra few years. He may also be able to insert a minimum sale price ie he is allowed to talk to any club that offers 40 million. This also makes him more attractive to prospective buyers. The Ball is in Wilf's court
