c*** face should've been dealt with by the officials on the pitch and the whole Watford squad should've dealt with by the authorities, Zaha and Ayew are fouled constantly because it's the only way to stop them, how would you feel if every time you attempted to do something all your mind anticipates is pain as your legs are removed, what pleasure is there for them knowing that is what they face let alone the added verbal abuse from opponents and their fans, it's amazing that the two of them have had little time in the treatment room considering the amount of crap dished out to them ...I think they deserve every single penny they earn because no one can imagine their frustrations on the pitch and their future injuries as life moves on off the pitch. Very neat I was tickled pink how you got that through Blue!!! Edited by Guntrisoft (27 Dec 2021 1.20pm)

What do people feel about the system we play? I wasn't at the match and I'm just using the information from the BBC, which might not be accurate. It has us set up in a 4-3-3 formation. Is that something that is set in stone? I assume it's PV's favourite, but should the system not be determined by the personnel available? I assume in practice they look at moving from one system to another during a game, as circumstances dictate. If Spurs set up 3-4-2-1, can 4-3-3-be the right response? Grateful for any help with this one and Merry Christmas all. Our set up cudnt have been that great, there were several occasions where spurs had acres of space where our full backs were supoosed to be, and Andersen got found out more than once for lack of pace, and these flaws seemed to be clearly targeted

Not sure if that was planned or not. If it was it backfired dramatically.

Joachim has a superior passing range/skill than most of our players in playing out from the back & Mark's pace & positioning compliments JA. Thommo also worked with MG, but, NOT with JA, both lack pace & why Thommo was on the half-way line, in the build up to their 1st goal, god only knows.

I share the view that we looked ok in the first twenty minutes but have got very frustrated by our constant recycling of the ball before losing it with some silly flick or ball down a blind alley instead of having a go when we were on top. The free kick that ended up back with our goalkeeper was the biggest case in point. Ultimately Spurs waited for the inevitable mistake that seems to have become our signature and picked us off. We've got some tough looking home fixtures in the second half of the season and if this doesn't get fixed fairly rapidly we're going to find ourselves with a big problem IMO.

Agree that Andersen is a very useful player, but he needs to be paired with Guehi.

The stand out thing for me was the clash of tactics. We like to press the opponent, inevitably leaving space behind our defence. Spurs like to sit back and look for opportunities on the counter, so it was always likely to be a game where either we won having dominated or they won having shredded us on the counter. In the event it was the latter, with the critical first two goals coming from turnovers when our back line was high up the pitch. Given the potent combination of Kanes link play and Son's pace, playing with a high line always seemed inappropriate but I wouldn't critisise Vieira. Every method of playing comes with its own strengths and weaknesses, and I've never believed that a team without a host of exceptional players can flit from high pressing one week to deep-lying counter attacking the next. Even good players need a general method to stick to, and whether that's Hodgsons risk-averse shape or Vieiras pressure game, its a question of selecting the right overall style of play at the beginning of the season, then working consistently week in week out to be good at it, even if from time to time that strategy appears ill-suited to a particular opponent.
