Also, less well known. but not to Russia.

The invasion at Archangel by the allies to support the whites after the revolution, thank you Winston.

Seen by some as the start of the gulags.

How to differentiate between the whites and the reds?

Why bother just round them up and intern them anyway.

We should have have done more to support the whites and try to bring down the reds. Think how mnay millions of lives would have been saved in the long run. Communists like you are a disgrace.

The Russians are hard, brave and patriotic. Fighting for the motherland, for family, for God & country.

The EU is full of cowards, the lazy, the idle, drunks, b@stards, and Soc-lib lefty idiots.

And half the young men living in Europe are not even from Europe, so why would they rally behind that stupid blue-starred flag ?

All the full-blooded European men are ancient & tired.

I have been to Russia in 2019, until I went I did not understand just how deeply WW2 still has an impact on Russian life. They do not forget the 20m that lost their lives and this means more to the average Russian than the average Brit bar Poppy day.

When you actually look into WW2 and just how much relative suffering went on it blows your mind The UK had 450 thousand dead. 385 thousand military the rest civilian.

Everyone of them a tragedy.

However, when you look at the numbers elsewhere it's carnage, huge numbers. The average person just hasn't really been taught it.

We will never get WW2 and Russia.

The vastness of the USSR.

The scale of the suffering much of it starvation.

90% of the German economy going to their Barbarossa campaign.

At Kursk (citadel) Germany was not defeated but their economy became exhausted and they could not sustain this production any longer.

Nobody would wish to decry things like D-Day and North Africa but our educational system has always portrayed a completely distorted view of WW2.

You won't see any Russian representation at things like D-Day celebrations but its as well to admit the truth that they suffered most in WW2 to our benefit.

Yep, the Russians killed 4/5 of the German troops killed in the war.....When I learnt that my mind was blown, it went completely against the US/UK/France telling of the war.

It's not untypical, as most of the war is distorted to paint easy to understand pictures.

Yes, 20 million killed in the war - about half the number that Stalin and the communist system that you admire so much killed.

compared to much of Russia, London is a tropical paradise. Even Thornton Heath is preferable to Moscow.

There seems to be tons of wealthy Russians living on the Med.

anyways..... regarding the military build up in Ukraine, i am very worried for its ramifications for the next Eurovision Song contest.

I still feel far more concerned with Eurovision going ahead than any invasion of Ukraine.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Yep and Stalin committed his own geocide of the Ukrainians, the Holodomor, killed millions (A United Nations joint statement signed by 25 countries in 2003 declared that 7–10 million perished...though it's probably around 5 million) and hardly anyone, outside of people interested in the period, know anything about it....which tells you something.
