Very serious offence, a club not controlling the crowd resulting in the endangering and abuse of individuals. A ten point reduction penalty would not be out of order - I think this has already been suggested by a Manure fan. On the actions of our manager, he was only protecting himself from what may have ensued. Well, if it had happened at out ground, you think the club would not be punished?

Indeed. Thinking further down the line, if Everton are not sanctioned for their repeated failure to halt a pitch invasion (not once but twice!) then the FA can be fully called to account for any such similar incident in the future.

Disagree, if someone gets right in your face, insults you and then tells you to 'F off' I think you have a right to respond.

Agreed let’s not forget PV was getting surrounded at the time. Luckily some of those helped him but he was not to know that.
Everton need to be hit with everything possible but, given the way their finances have been ignored, I doubt they will be.
Has someone at Everton got something on PL? Or is it the old school tie network?

Don’t forget there had already been a pitch invasion after their last goal. There was zero attempt to control the crowd. Even then, in the circumstances, where were the stewards/ police escort to take PV through an out of control crowd to the away dressing room on the other side of the pitch. The incident beggars belief on Everton’s count. PV merely reacted to extreme provocation in a foreign language (scouser) which must sound pretty scary for a Frenchman or Englishman. It was lucky the other Everton fans did not get involved. Things could have got very messy. The whole scene breaks all crowd control laws. To blame Vieira for lashing out in extreme circumstances would be ducking the much bigger issue.
If PV is in any way punished then the sanctions on Everton should be colossal for blatantly breaking the law and then allowing PV to be caught up in it through lack of supervision of a super star having to pass through the invaders unprotected returning to his dressing room.
Totally irresponsible on behalf of Everton’s crowd controllers who were non existent.

Benteke slapped and called a kopite, Clyne targeted for being ex-Liverpool. Eze had flare held close to his face, Zaha abused. Andersen slapped, all on social media, so evidence is out there. Perhaps Palace should have walked off and taken the consequences, that would make the PL look bad. As for Everton throw the book at them

Surely there must be some acceptance that a team can walk off when the host club cannot control its supporters (Pitch invasion during the game) & several of the opposition team are targeted, slapped & the subject of verbal abuse / threatening behaviour.

The premier league must breathe a big sigh of relief every time millwall just miss out on the playoffs. How would they deal with that? They can’t deal with this.

Have a read. The official Everton site celebrating the achievements of the players, fans and manager, when in reality they should all hang their heads in shame and the club should be punished for the last few games and financial cheating. Everyone including the FA and premier league knew what would happen on Thursday, when Everton, well the cretin who wrote that diarrhoea, have brushed it off as ‘sniping from the sidelines’. No statement from them. If Vieira gets a ban for this and their fans don’t get punished with matches behind closed doors then it even more confirms that football is rigged and possibly corrupt.

If PV is charged he and palace need to to get this to a higher court than the FA. Then get it higher until some 10k an hour breif forced the EPL and FA to justify why no punishment was given to Everton.

Reading that bile makes me feel sick. I will have more dislike of Everton from now on than I have for Brighton.

I just hope we don't get drawn away to them on the first day of next season! Actually, whenever we play them I anticipate trouble.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Apparently this was released sometime yesterday -

The Football Association has released a statement condemning anti-social behaviour from supporters after several incidents this week, including one involving a Nottingham Forest fan.

A Forest season ticket holder has been jailed for 24 weeks after pleading guilty to a post-match assault on Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp at the City Ground on Tuesday. There has also been trouble at Port Vale, and Everton vs. Crystal Palace in recent days, with the FA now looking to clamp down on such behaviour.

The FA reinforced that it is illegal to enter the playing area, and sent a message to all clubs that they are responsible for stopping such incidents from occurring in the first place.

In a statement issued today (Friday), the FA said: "We are very concerned about the rise in anti-social behaviour from fans as we reach the end of the season. Football stadiums should always be a safe and enjoyable space for everyone, and these incidents are completely unacceptable and have no place in our game.

"It is illegal to enter the pitch area in any stadium and these actions are putting players, fans and people who run the game at great risk. This simply cannot continue and we can confirm that we are investigating all of the incidences.

"Clubs play a vital role in addressing this issue and they need to prevent pitch invasions from occurring, as well as taking their own action against those that break the rules and the law. The FA will be seeking to do all that it can to work with clubs as well as addressing the issues from a disciplinary perspective.

"We are also reviewing our regulations to help stamp this behaviour out and to ensure the safety of everyone inside a stadium."

So no condemnation from the FA or Everton. So we’re all okay to storm the pitch next season? How about just against Everton. I’d actually welcome every club putting their players off and doom them to relegation. Their club knows many of their fans are dregs and not only doesn’t want to upset their dregs but revels in their mindset. What is very funny is them heralding lampiss as sort of genius when in reality they have a p1ss poor manager who will not improve over other managers in the next 4 months. Can’t wait for them to turn on him once they realise he’s playing them with his doting references to their chavs and put their team in deeper misery than this season. Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of pikeys, in every section of the ground it seems, including the directors. What a sh1tty club to support should be the song. Celebrating staying up after spending so much money they’re high up in the net spenders in Europe. Can’t wait for linekar to drool over their passion getting them over the line and shearer agreeing now his sh1te pot have been saved by the most despicable owners you could ever find. Football really stinks.

The person taken to hospital because of the flare thrown into the away end is still in hospital, on a heart monitor. They were in hospital on Thursday night, released and then had to go back into hospital. I think the person had some seizures. Let’s hope they are okay. If not, there’s going to be some serious discussions about Everton and Thursday night. Until now it hasn’t been mentioned.

It’s now making its way into the public domain. That’s one upside of social media. People rigging the system can’t keep inconvenient details quiet and hidden. Lampard, Everton and any more of their lowlifes should be thinking about that or asked in the next press conference. See whether it’s still funny (really it’s Lampiss adapting to the scummy Everton way as these slippery snakes do… for cash, which surprises, erm, nobody. The premier league heads have been doing it for 30 years)

You may not like him but he has summed it up for most of here:

Some players have spoken since Thursday, including Troy Deeney, who defended Patrick Vieira: “ If you know Vieira as a player and as a man, he’s not going to let anyone physically touch him or insult him without doing anything in return. We all remember the iconic photos of him and Roy Keane. If he’s not afraid of Keane, he won’t be afraid of an old veteran who would rush at him to insult him. The reactions online were that Vieira got in trouble, but why didn’t we get the fan insulting him. Players and managers are meant to be role models, but they are also human beings. In normal life, if someone pushes you down the street, chances are you will react. Vieira is no different, regardless of how much money he earns or what sport he plays. We’re in a weird space right now where the victim is seen as the problem, more than the person who is actually the problem. »
