To put in perspective how lap times have fallen, I vividly remember the great Hislop/Fogarty battle in 1992, which resulted in Foggie becoming the fastest man around the TT course. Now, thirty years later, Foggie,Hislop and Joey Dunlop do not feature in the current list of the top 100 fastest IOM laps.
Foggies lap was at an average of 123.61mph. Peter Hickman has now taken that to 135.452mph.

I don't know the statistics, but the TT must be one of, if not the, most dangerous of all motor sporting events still held today due to the speeds to which you refer eagle52.

Again I'm not aware of the numbers, but on the road too, motorcycling is dangerous. Yet another rider killed last week nearby on the A272 which is something of a Mecca for the biker community.

I remember when a Triumph Bonneville was the ultimate motorcycle, yet the current breed of road machines leave them standing.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

It's surprising that it's still going as most of the other famous road races of the past like the Targa Florio and the Mille Miglia were abandoned years ago due to the danger to both the participants and the spectators

The Bonneville was certainly much faster than my Lambretta

My schoolfriend had a 500cc Triumph back in the day and being of slight build I couldn't even lift it up
