Very curt response from PV during yesterday's post match press conference when he was quizzed about the transfer window.

Something along the lines of the result doing nothing to change his mind about what was needed. When pushed about Steve Parish's statement regarding a couple of loans said that they should "ask him" to explain it.

I don't suppose he can turn around and say, "it looks like I need a whole new first eleven "

You're not as far from the truth as you probably think in my view.
The only areas where we're ok is the wings and goalkeeper in my view. The centre backs are good but yesterday showed how poor the cover is.

Wings isn't that great, olise has dropped off, wilf creates nothing when he's out there, who's left, ayew, eze, not rich pickings. Would love us to go old school left and right wingers on there proper sides.

My little evaluation is that we haven’t actually improved on last season at all, we have definitely taken a step back. We had in my opinion a poor summer window other than doucoure and ebiowei we didn’t actually address any of the problem areas. It’s never going to be a quick process but how we’ve ended up so unbalanced as a team is quite shocking. In such a competitive league you need to win battles before having so many luxury players and there’s been far too many performances this season where we’ve lost the midfield battle because we only actually have doucoure who can play there.

We need two new full back. In todays game if you’re going to be a full back you either have to be very good going forward or a real solid defender. Ward and Clyne with respect to them are not premier league level. Controversially Mitchell is also not very good going forward and to be expected does have the odd stinker, there’s been times where he’s needed to be taken out of the team because of poor performances but the reality is we have no one good enough to replace him.

Now into midfield where we are very very unbalanced and weak. We need to get rid of Luka,Jairo and I personally would try get transfer fees for hughes and schlupp is it means getting 2 good midfielders next to doucoure, could you imagine the difference that would make!

The wings I personally feel we are good for but we do desperately need a striker which we’ve needed for years. That is by no means easy to find. Goal scoring premier league strikers cost way more than we could afford hence the risks we’ve had to take over the years with mateta, sorloth and edouard.

We need to build our team around guita,Anderson,Guehi,Doucoure, olise,Eze and zaha and that is obviously the clubs vision aswell.

I agree with the majority of your post, but the club can't build around a 36 year old 'keeper and an end of contract Zaha.

Tbf Guita has shown no signs of age creeping up on him, Van Der Sar was at the top untill his early 40’s but yeah you have a point there. Same with wilf he’s still just so important to us as a club. Even when he’s poor we all still look to him, that’s as fans, players and manager. I still have hope he will sign a contract just because I don’t see a big prem club going for him and I don’t see him getting paid what he does here. He may well move and he will go with many of our blessing. We wouldn’t be a premier league team without him and he’s given us some of our best memories as palace fans.

It began with Eze and then since Viera has become manager you can see the direction the club has tried to go down with our signings and it’s very exciting. We just need to keep building and signing the right players in the right areas. We do need to add some experience to help the group aswell even if they aren’t the most exciting names.

Gordons ball control was very impressive yesterday in the warm up. He looks like one for the future, maybe with any luck, sooner than later.

Completely agree, let’s hope he continues to develop and saves us having to spend big money in an area we can use elsewhere!

Kymani-Gordon & Rak-Sakyi will soon be in the forward line - next season in the Championship when the only thing Mr Parish seems bothered about, the academy might show its value.

Whilst I agree with the posts, the thing that everyone ignores is the club has lost 110m in the last two sets of published accounts. One hundred and ten million pounds. It’s textors investment that allowed us to spend in the last overhaul of players.

We can’t just magic up £50-60 million every transfer window. We need to be smart and try and raise some funds or be clever in the market.

If you look at Brighton with Cucurella and Leicester with Fofana, we need to raise some funds from somewhere.
