Must be one of the best Ashes sessions, breathtaking stuff.

Inspired by Root although he is out, we are nevertheless 5 wickets down and 160 ahead.

Excellent bowling from Cummins assisted by Lyon and unnecessary rushes by us.

Stokes Bairstow Moeen that's it they must deliver.....

Where do you get such amazing cricketing insight?

Perhaps the declaration on first day will come back to bite us? Sincerely hope not

I think so, we left 50 runs out there.

Tomorrow we will have to find our lengths, not give anything, 174 for an Aussie victory with 7 wickets remaining it's theirs to lose.

A win is possible though, and we do have runs on the board.

Forecast is for rain until after lunch then overcast so if play is possible it should be fine bowling conditions

…absolutely hammering down here in Birmingham. As ME said, forecast to clear this arvo, play possibly from 2pm ish. All being well.

Unfortunately the rain stopped.

If only England had scored more runs in their first innings

When I was at junior school my annual report stated the 'he would make a good cricketer' and very little else.

Since then I have had very little interest in the game, and unashamedly, do not understand how folk can get so excited about it. Still, each to his own, although personally I can't wait for the last ball to be thrown and the start of the football season.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

That and the four missed chances on Day 2. We should’ve had a Lead of 100 from the first innings and then finished them off quite comfortably.

Even if Stokes had managed to hold on to the catch towards the end, Australia would have been nine down and still needing fifty odd. I’m pretty sure we would have wrapped it up.

plenty of mistakes made. I can forgive those made by Bairstow - he hasn't kept wicket for an eternity. He'll hopefuly Improve.
Joe Roots 2nd innings dismissal epitomises the danger of Bazball for me - that's not his usual game, play the game that he's sooo good at. We needed him to stay in yesterday, and it clouded his judgement.
