Bumrah strikes before tea. Much more like it from our openers. That's our fastest century opening stand in tests that does surprise me. A platform, if we can get up to around 200 for 3 I fancy us to win.

Nasser Hussain made a point yesterday about the constant hall changes that the pitch changes as do the conditions so just deal with the ball not being perfect. As long as it's not completely out of shape I agree with him; too often it's just that the bowling side can't get a wicket.

On the cusp of a famous victory. 378 to win we are 259-3 thanks to excellent Root and Bairstow, and our bowlers restricting India to 245 all out. All day to do it, but Bumrah & co. will be firing in. It will break records if it happens, I think the first hour will be vital.

Really did not expect that. Trying not to get too carried away - this tactic won't always come off but it's working so far and will excite crowds. Jonny Bairstow is unstoppable at the moment - must be nice for Joe Root to have some back up.

The thing is we have actually got 5 day test matches with this approach. It felt quite unreal to see England cruising to such a massive total this morning.

This new England with their "can do" attitude seems to have dispelled the myth about batting fourth. 378-3 today was a stroll in the park. I must be dreaming right?
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |
