The thing is what can Labour actually do in face of what has happened to Truss? What was her terrible crime? Wanting to cut taxes?

Whatever you might think of Truss, why does anybody feel that Starmer would have anymore autonomy than she did? This is the question that needs to be answered.

Sure, lots of anti-Tory sentiment around her humiliation, and understandably so, but what does that mean for the next PM?

If this happens to somebody like Truss who tried to cut taxes what on earth happens to somebody from the Left tying to implement their policies?

People need to take a step back and ponder the wider consequences of what has just happened. It is not good at all.

Look at Biden and Trump. Biden builds the wall - it's fine. Trump builds a wall... You know the rest. Why any different on the UK?

Sorry, you have lost me. Are you saying that Starmer would, if he wanted, be able to cut taxes if he was PM at the moment?

I fear that the police will be allowed to continue in wasting time on twitter spats instead of crime.

I expect a significant general increase in legal immigration which would not be based on the country's needs.

Illegal immigration will get even worse with the numbers continuing to increase and the cost becoming even more unbearable.

I suspect a mass amnesty for illegals is likely.

They will prioritize staying in power- at ANY cost- just like the CONServatives have for the past 13 years!

There's a very good reason why Starmer will not be taking us back into the EU, and that's because the latter don't want it.

Their decision to try and make sense of brexit is because we can't do anything else.

'Soundings were taken in Europe' - Lisa Nandy.

And the soundings appear to have been, unsurprisingly, 'non, merci'.

Or, 'sur la bicyclette'

'On yer' bike'.

We need to think what we have to actually have to offer, not what we may receive.

At the moment I don't think Baffinland would find us attractive.

There are a hell of a lot of people in a lot of EU countries who would gladly tell the politicians in the EU....on your bike.

I think you over estimate the popularity of the EU.

Now that Germany has cucked itself into an economic disaster zone I think some realities will be slowly filtering through to the usual pro EU crowd over this next year.

Some might think I'm happy about that, but in all honesty I'm not.....their loss is also my loss.
