I'm convinced you cant have Eze, Zaha, Olise, Edouard and Ayew, all in the same team, not unless you are desperate and throwing caution to the wind to get a result.

The first three are great flair players and on their day turn a game on its head. Edouard is too light weight, cant seem to hold onto the ball, it just bounces off him. facing the goal fine, but with his back to the goal he is next to useless. Ayew is a bench player at best, fantastic work rate, unselfish, but doesn't seem to fit anywhere.
As everybody knows Doucoure is doing an outstanding job, but he cant hold things up alone, we need a similar working type player, with an engine (maybe with a bit more passing ability) helping him out. We don't have anybody in the first team who can fill that position (a young McArthur would be ideal but...)

Having flair players is great, but you need people around them feeding them the ball and doing the donkey work. PV must know this, after all he was the the player we now need. Come on PV either train a youngster up or bring someone in or I fear for the worst.

Viera, Either sack him or back him. A lot of this mess lays at the feet of the board & I don't want to hear that 'Palace can only afford to shop at Lidl's bollocks' we have two owners worth 5 Billion & 2 Billion.
Viera couldn't do anything at the MLS with NYCFC which has no promotion or relegation & with players like Lampard, Pirlo, (Midfielders) & David Villa so he isn't going to do much with what he has at Palace.

Lidl's is our go to, doesn't matter what the owners are worth if they don't flash the cash

Awful performance, the players and management need to hang their heads in shame.

Based on how we looked today, at least you'll be saving money dining out this season. A can of beans for every loss?

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth

I am of the opinion this result has been coming for some time. We were poor against Leicester ( without Milo ) and i was surprised by the Palace management saying how well we played against Wolves. We were ok and on chances a draw would have been a fair result. Full back ( both sides is still a weak area for us ) as is centre forward. In fairly recent seasons we were often better away from home sitting deep with a defensive set up and hitting teams on the break. The game though is changing and i don't know if it is possible to play that way with the way Teams press. One thing for sure is over the next few games ( and we are not playing any of the top teams ) we will see how good Viera and his management team are as we all know we can't keep putting in performances like this and Leicester.

We have basically replaced Kouyate Gallagher and Macauthur with Doucoure. And yesterday with Luca. For a hard hitting midfielder paired with Petit, surely Pat can see the problem.

Yes, we probably put too much emphasis on getting Gallagher back earlier in the season than moving on and getting someone to play with Doucoure. Has to be a priority for January.

Everton deserved their win, but we made them look good. Our inept showing in the last transfer window was badly exposed yesterday and It looks like we need 4 or 5 players to strengthen the team, you can’t blame big Pat for this.

I think the bottom line is PV is a poor manager, tactically inept, can't motivate players, doesn't play to the strengths of what he has, his only virtue was his ability to attract players that may have chosen another club, he will continue to ruin the players he has until he is removed from his position and replaced by someone who has a decent track record as a manager. you must remember he was forth choice out of desperation, and it is starting to look like it.

Whilst we are throwing out off the wall suggestions - why not pair Decoure with Ayew, Jordan Ayew has that dogged determination that we would require alongside him in that Defensive midfield area ( playing 4231) - no idea if he would have the positional sense required.

Something I'm wondering and just throwing it out there: how about we use Andersen or Guehi in as out and out Anchor and bring in Tomkins? I know Tomkins is rusty but Andersen, in particular, seems better on the ball than our midfielders. Then perhaps Eze and Doucoure midfield with Zaha, Mateta, Olise up front? Or even put Schlupp in midfield - Eze out Left, Zaha central and Olise right.

I think it no mean feat to keep a club like Palace in the top flight. PV came in having to re-build the team with a limited budget and so far he has done well.

Of course if we get relegated this season I will change my opinion but until then he has my support.

If he doesn't get his key signings in January then the board will have let him down.

In almost every season that I can remember we always seem to have a couple of games where we just don't seem to show up, mostly it seemed to be against Burnley & Newcastle (Newcastle pre their money influx) the kind of teams that just grind you down -
After last year at Everton I would have thought we would have wanted to even the score a bit but as almost everyone has said we really missed Decoure & whilst Luca used to be formidable he isn't these days & opposition teams are going to try to boss the midfield because that's the platform from which the game is going to be won or lost.

People aren't singling him out. Nobody has said that everybody else was decent because that clearly wasn't the case. But Luka has been consistently crap for quite some time now and is nowhere near good enough for Premiership football.

I've seen plenty of other players on this thread being criticised for their performance today.

Everyone is singling him out. Go back through the thread. It’s rampant. Half the posters were slating before the game even kicked off.

Anyway, is what it is. I agree he’s not the future for us. Just making a point.
