Surgical masks exist to stop spittle from landing on a patient.
They're purely there for hygiene reasons.

Anything more is cope.

You make me laugh. No matter how hard I try to explain that the EU is democratic, but just in a different way, that I don't want parliament to be secret, just the voting of its members to be done in private, that "silent praying" is fine, but intimidation is not and that whilst persecution is never acceptable, nor is restricting the rights of people not to hear, or give space to, things if they choose not to. Deciding you no longer want to represent someone, or cancelling their booking, is not persecution. It's the precise opposite. It's freedom.

I have been watching "Rise of the Nazis" on iPlayer. There are several episodes. Whilst the events themselves are all pretty well known this is a detailed exploration of the motivations and psychological mind sets of the senior Nazis, explained by some very well qualified experts.

There are chilling parallels to some attitudes around today, providing lessons which ought never be forgotten.

Why do I mention this? If you haven't seen it then take some time and do. It's well worthwhile. Then, perhaps, you will understand.

The EU are worse than FIFA

What a good joke!

The only thing that gets proved by conspiracy theorists is that they can spread ever more ridiculous conspiracy theories.

As saliva can contain infectious material it makes sense to practise good hygiene. That though is not the only reason they are worn. Coughs and sneezes can pass viruses both ways. Restricting that also makes sense.

The difference between conspiracy theorist and the truth is about 6-9 months.

Everything has come true that the "Conspiracy theorists" have said about covid.

The only thing the Covid Zero / lockdown Zelots are good for is spreading mis-information

Masks and hand sanitising were important steps to make in areas of highest concentration of persons.
The fact that quite a few people got 'exemption' cards for masks, and then went to highly-populated public areas kind of nullified a lot of the good that these measures were intended for.
Then going round supermarkets in family groups with the kids (who could carry and spread the virus whilst having no symptoms) and 'nana' only served to spread the virus further, especially to vulnerable people who needed to use supermarkets as a necessity.

It brought out a lot of the bad/selfish characteristics in people.

Is just more bs!

The enquiry will look at all the evidence, in its context, and determine what lessons are there to be learned should anything similar be faced again.

I will be very surprised if it shows that, on balance, not locking down would have likely produced an overall better result.

Until then, I reserve my opinion, but believe that in the circumstances at the time, given the knowledge at the time, it was an entirely appropriate decision.

Restricting the distance and spread of a heavy viral load doesn't imply stopping it completely. It means what it says on the tin. It restricts it. Which is better than not restricting it at all. Having to wear a mask during the peak of the pandemic, before people were protected by vaccination, was a small price to pay for any benefit to be obtained. Not least the reassurance it gave to others.

Which continue, if you read some of the comments here. It wasn't perfect but it was better than not doing it.

Completely false, it means exactly what it says on the box.
Now you're going to tell me the manufacturer for this particular brand of surgical mask are incorrect.

Surgical masks made propagandists like yourself feel better about your choices re Covid.
