It is a bit of a non-story. You have 5 children before you reach 30 with no income stream except the welfare state and you will very often struggle. She admitted that by saying that the cost of living crisis has little to do with it, she struggles anyway.

I am sure we all know hard-working couples who would love another child but have made a prudent decision that they just can't afford it. So if you have made the same life-decisions as this lady, you must unfortunately expect to suffer. Sorry.

I can well understand her desire to be a Mother, and within the confines of the mistake of having five kids by 30 she looks to be doing her best. Again though, I say mistake as ultimately if you want the best life for your kids you put yourself in a position where you can hope to provide for them, and in this case that was never going to happen.

Rely on government and emptying the pockets of the hard working too much where it was optional and it understandably get backs up. People can become rather entitled and unappreciative too where society lets them coast along on others' efforts. As such they're in no hurry to consider their impact on others and society.

Sadly, a lifestyle choice and a sense of entitlement established by that do gooder in chief,Gordon Brown and fully supported by the disastrous Labour Party heading our way for an equally disastrous spell in Government within the next two years.

Most sensible people would of made that mistake once not five times in fairness.

In all fairness, we don't know what this woman's background is. For all we know she may have been married and her husband died. I know the assumptions seem likely, but can bite you in the arse sometimes.

Ugh! Disgusting!

OMG! How is it that people can turn out like this?

I am at a loss for words to express my distaste. It makes me so sad.

Turnout like what?

Did you actually watch the video as she seems quite a nice person who was asked to explain what life was like as a single mother of five. She wasn't complaining or asking for more and even said that despite having no money she had riches with her family.

Shame on you and all of the others who have passed judgement without knowing anything about her

Nicholas91 I always had you marked down as one of the few more intelligent posters here but I'm afraid that I disagree with you on this occasion.

The girl wasn't complaining at all. She had obviously been asked how a single mother of five coped at Christmas which I think that she did admirably without any complaints about her lot in life at all.

I doubt whether there was any intention to elicit sympathy but the story was published as just a case study of what it's like to be poor and how she copes.

Unlike you I was full of admiration for the way she approached life without any money

Like Cryst, of course.

Mindless, disgraceful way to speak of somebody and showing, once again, what a sick, comedy-show kind of a person he is.

An utter disgrace to humanity.

Ignorant and judgemental.

Shame on you excuse for a human being.

But hey-ho. Nothing new there, then Lol

I did say Midlands, I thought it was more the manner of the reporting. Why is this on the news etc? I did have the feeling of 'is this news'? It did mention charity several times and again as I have tried to articulate, I am a big believer in charity, having previously volunteered at more than one, and in my very subjective opinion/experience I'd often encounter those for whom it had been exactly designed for but every now and then somebody who you'd think 'well you've only yourself to blame here'.

I also conceded that it may just me being 'angry' at the world, or something of that ilk. But if somebody decides to have 5 kids by the age of 30 and feels they are newsworthy in the reporting of their struggles to the world I find it a very bizarre paradigm indeed. Did she not know this would happen? If so did she plan for it? If not why? Did she consider the quality of life of those being brought into the world etc. etc.

I am not entirely condemning her, and am certainly not suggesting for one second I have any say or control over the choices of others, but this is something I do frown upon and see it as detrimental to society. I don't think it's a matter of intelligence but it does grate on me a bit so again, very subjective. I would just suggest it selfish in many ways at the very least to architect your life as such and once more, bizarre to report on it.

I'd put it less eloquently. To me, the welfare state should be a safety net for those unable to provide for themselves. It shouldn't be there to support a chosen lifestyle, nor indeed as a lifestyle choice in itself. Unfortunately that bird has long since flown. Now every day on the "news" you see single parents complaining about their lot.

In Ireland, the working people clamber and fight to rent the apartments that were rejected by Dole-heads.

its a topsy turvey World
