The trouble is that our recruiter-in-chief’s wife is a former ballet dancer, so her influence has resulted in Palace buying artiste-players of undoubted balance, poise and grace but short on grit, tenacity and determination. Gallagher brought all these latter attributes plus skill, bravery, fantastic powers of acceleration and a great sense of the team being more important than the individual. In the window, we need to sign players who can get us out of a scrape when we’re chasing the game in front of a hostile crowd on a cold afternoon in midwinter. The blueprint was set by the do-or-die attitude of Morocco in the World Cup tournament in Qatar. COYP.

The trouble is that our recruiter-in-chief’s wife is a former ballet dancer, so her influence has resulted in Palace buying artiste-players of undoubted balance, poise and grace but short on grit, tenacity and determination.

Gallagher brought all these latter attributes plus skill, bravery, fantastic powers of acceleration and a great sense of the team being more important than the individual.

In the window, we need to sign players who can get us out of a scrape when we’re chasing the game in front of a hostile crowd on a cold afternoon in midwinter.

The blueprint was set by the do-or-die attitude of Morocco in the World Cup tournament in Qatar.

This is certainly true for the last two games and for periods of other games too. The template to play Palace is for the opposition to push up on Doucoure to deny him time on the ball and for the attackers to pin the Palace full backs in their own third so the only option is to pass back. The usual way to bypass this is to occasionally play long to try and turn the opposition defence. This appears to be something Vieira is loathe to do, and in any event it’s debatable if we have the players to carry out this approach in particular with just Wilf as lone striker down the middle. As others have noted we can be easy to play against, but on the other hand we don’t help ourselves with sloppy passing and lack of bite in our play. The usual way to bypass this is to occasionally play long to try and turn the opposition defence.
This appears to be something Vieira is loathe to do, and in any event it’s debatable if we have the players to carry out this approach in particular with just Wilf as lone striker down the middle.

If you could morph the best attributes of Ayew and Olise you would have a very good player.

It is extremely frustrating to say the least, obviously as you know the idea is to stretch the opposition to create space for both us to pass the ball forward and for Anderson to boot it forward which he's very good at, the only problem I can only see is our total inability to get stuck in and win the ball when the ball is there to be challenged.

Ayew has tons of vital experience which he uses well, Olise has none whatsoever and many teams are able to nullify him very easily, he needs to be introduced into a game to build up his experience and then confidence, we are running the huge risk of destroying him. Yes, that's where it goes tits up absolutely, I'm not so sure about leaving a mark on the opposition though because we seem quite adequate at giving away ridiculous freekicks all over the place, I'm more concerned about our players inability to win a loose ball.
