I have always liked the idea of being under dogs int his league, grab bargain, blood a youngster and stay up, not not he cheap... but in a smart manner, let the chairman runt things his way, not wasting the millions we get each year...

We have an academy now, that's something... we need a spot on recruitment policy now.

We need to pretend each season we are on of the promoted teams - go out there and have fun, enjoy it and get to 40 points as quickly as we can.

Yes, the stokes, the burnleys. the Wigans, you get stagnant and go down if not careful, but with a proper business minded chairman, relegation should not be the end of the world.

This nonsense of needing the prem, absolute BS. Tell that to the 90 other league clubs. We can be a prem club and be sustainable... same in champ or any league.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember we were a championship club both times we went into administration?

Lol, terrible comment.. yeah, every club outside the prem is in administration....

what you are really saying is Parish has learnt nothing from the last ten years, learnt nothing from Jordan's mistakes, learnt nothing from Noades.. the club isn't fit for purpose unless we get a cash injection of 100 mil each year, which then subsequently goes back out on wages...

Sounds like a club terribly run.

Parish was never honest from the get go. He purchased palace, at the last minute to get a good deal.. the plan was always to sell the club on, aka, flip the club for a profit. He never expected the club to get promoted so soon and parish found himself owning a club in a league that needed vast amounts of money, which he didn't have, to compete. it's that simple.

He got in investors, they soon saw it was a dead end. Just as most managers saw.

He can't take the club forward in the prem.. he had the plan to tread water, save up some money and then invest - with roy that was the plan and it worked, well.

We then get PV and some cash to push forward and look where it's gotten us - we have blown 120 mil in one season on players.. when have we ever done that? That's insane... every summer season should be to build a squad that is the strongest in the championship.... and play out that season in the prem, with a plan b if we didn't go down, we would be able to compete and have a ready made squad.

It's really that simple, because for all this wishful thinking over ten years has gotten us no where.

We need passion, we need grit, we need fighters in out tea, - mix of experience and those with a point to prove and those eager to step up.

Dougie was great at championship players but as prem players the lines and margins are too fine...

Our finest season was under pulis 2013 - 10 years ago...

We gotta be real...

You dont think Palace are capable of getting 4 wins against that lot? Regardless of current form (which will not last forever) there is a reason most of them are below us.

If, in our remaining games we repeat the result from the last time we played that team, we'll finish on 41 points. If we lose at Brighton that becomes 40.

Even ignoring that our recent run has been difficult, our results against that group suggest it'll be pretty close.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

However, there's a lot more to play for and a few teams have upgraded... since then, we have lost our sharpness, forgot how to shoot and confidence is dripping away..

Every team looks hard now... and every team will have done their homework on us and seen our flaws.

Youíve stretched out your point that couldíve been summarised and corrected with:

We havenít sold any players for a big profit for quite a while to fund this

Our manager doesnít get the most from our players and they show no passion. This is another reason for not selling players for big profits. Plus our scouting is basic, as usual.

LOL that's not what I'm saying. Our revenue stream when we were in the championship wasn't good enough to keep us afloat and Goldberg's (not Noades) and Jordan's pockets weren't deep enough to get us out of the division, hence two administrations in 11 years. Going back to the championship isn't going to be all roses and unicorns, weather you like it or not as a business the best league to be in is the Premier.

Parish is protecting his investment by diversifying the ownership of the club, which is something he has learnt from Goldberg and Jordan but that comes at the expense of decision paralysis. He's even tried to sell the club outright but no one was interested, and understandably looking at the books.

Roy was starved of funds for players for 4 seasons and we lost three key midfielders over the summer, replaced one and then had to panic in the January transfer windows to address it. We have two right backs with an average age of over 70, we have one left back, we have two number nines that are so good they can't get into the team. Looks like a balls up to me.

You're right about Freedman - he's definitely championship standard or less in terms of management ability and recruitment.

After 10 seasons and £1bn+ in PL revenue its mind blowing why the squad is in such as sh*t state in terms of players ability and mentality. Why on earth we haven't been picking up fit for purpose players from the championship over these PL seasons and seen as a gateway club for players is beyond me.

With our record in the transfer market, even with parachute payments I don't see us coming back up very quickly, which would probably lead to another administration, unless we do a Charlton and end up in league one, hence the revenue from the PL is crucial.

Does anyone know what our scouting system actually is? Dylan Reid recently arrived from Scotland which sounds like Freedman's Scottish contacts are still working? Kylian Philips recently cam in from Ireland to great success so it sounds like there's a good Irish scouting network in place? PlusAhamada and Lakonga came in as well, which might be PV using his knowledge of French players? Plus the Academy recruits across SE London, so there must be a scouting network there?
I'd be interested to know what Brighton's or Brentford's scouting network is? They seem to be able to recruit good young players from many different sources.

My guess it's the terms of the sale that is putting people off if he is insisting that he stays to run the club as the accounts aren't that bad

I agree with this assumption, SP likes to be in control which is what is holding the club back, he wants investors but he wants to be the one who decides how it is spent which makes the club unattractive!

I think we should be careful for what we wish for. There's no doubt that Parish knows Palace through and through, and whilst he's made mistakes he's also made sure that the club stays true to its roots.
