I have been saying for years that our lack of action on European population, primarily caused by immigration, will become a catastrophe quicker than some realise.

In the near future, we will have a water and energy crisis, and scientists are now seriously suggesting food rationing.

Those that make these decisions will not suffer from them. It will be the masses that have an ever decreasing standard of living while having to endure their culture and genetic heritage disappear at the same time.

Politicians need to wake up. We have to restrict entry into Europe and the US.

There are still people who doubt that a doubling of the world population will be a problem.

A global problem that has nothing to do with immigration and a lot to do with religion, lack of education etc. etc.

The root of many of our environmental issues.

The question is how do significantly reduce this plague of primates in the short-term.

How can immigration not be a problem?

A bigger world population means more pressure on resources and more conflict. That in turn means more migration to first World countries. You cannot separate the two subjects.

No one wants to take measures to reduce population because they hope it will magically sort itself out without radical measures.
What we can do in the West is to limit entry of migrants.

The idea that a bigger population brings more prosperity per head of population is not born out by the evidence.

A greater density of population only means a lower quality of life.

Population is on the decline, and is expected to decline significantly over the next century.

Not just in the west. China's curve is flattening and will begin to decline, with population expected to halve to around 750m by 2100.

The population bomb theory is no longer relevant.

Whilst you are right to say more people = more resources, we arguably have more than enough to go around. The issue is we haven't been very good at managing resources in a sustainable and effective manner. It's also extremely questionable that we should all need such significant gluttony of choice – we could all live extremely well without the need to have every possible kind of item imaginable available on tap, 24/7.

This is very much the age of abundance, the issue is sustainability and even distribution of resources. We have mismanaged those extensively (eg. topsoil) due to carelessness, naivety, greed, exploitation and short term thinking, and we will reap what we have sowed in that regard unless our approach to such resources changes in the very near future.

This is so wrong.

The birth rate is in decline, not population. You are displaying the classic misunderstanding of how population works.

Soil erosion and quality is not a problem that is easily solved. Food wastage could be reduced, but the inevitable consequence of your solution is rationing of food.

Are you happy for your children and grandchildren to have their quality of life greatly reduced, so we can cater for a population of 15 to 20 billion?
Do you want the population of Britain to go over 100 million or more and see essential services completely unable to cope with demand?

There is a storm coming.

that sounds rather alarmist ? i mean, the genetic heritage of British females is surely still intact ? and will probably continue to be so.

Remember the Yamnaya that rolled through Western Europe about 5 thousand years ago ? You are most likely descended from those warrior men on horses, and the local women from Stonehenge.

Birth rate declines, population decline follows. Granted it takes time but unless you're 3D printing people do let me know how that simple example of cause and effect fails to make sense.

On a country by country basis you're in serious trouble unless you use immigration from other, younger and still growing countries to try and make up for the increasing worker shortage as a result of an expensive, maturing economy. But even these will start to taper off over time.

Using China as an example

Projected population peak 2030 1.5bn, projected population decline to 800m by 2100.

World population is projected to peak at somewhere between 11-12bn around 2080.

15-20bn is hyperbole based on existing consensus, and frankly, the way we're using remaining available resources with 'only' 7.8bn people, plus the increasing numbers of maturing economies resulting in more and more countries shifting to flattened curves or transitioning into population decline.

It's also worth pointing out that it's highly likely that the coming automation transition will probably end any real need to keep churning out humans for workforce purposes.

Soil erosion is indeed a massive issue, some projections have it at about 60-100 years of topsoil left. That is IF we continue to use it in a poorly managed manner, however. I doubt that we will – automation coupled with the inevitable move to cultivating food artificially rather than harvesting it will further reduce the pressure on things like intensive farming and topsoil erosion.

Plus – population increase of any size only really becomes a problem when it accelerates too quickly. The future trend is the opposite, so although I do agree population growth has been insane since the 50s, it is not projected to do anything other than slow and reverse over the next century. It would be better if that trend started now rather than in 50 years time, but with the right decision making and innovations (some which we most likely have not even thought of yet) I'm personally more worried about the impact of ageing economies than growing ones.

I didn't offer 'my solution', just a presentation of the consensus regarding population decline rather than the decades old population bomb theory. Things have moved on somewhat since 1968.

NB. You're also massively underestimating the human capacity for ingenuity when put under stress.

You've got it the wrong way round. The root and the cause.

Global Population is the cause immigration is just one of many symptoms.

Personally I know no politician that says a bigger population means more prosperity.

In the UK, we need immigration to support, our expenditure on our old. for example, state pensions are paid from revenue on a window of say 2 weeks, not quite so bad for some of the Police, teacher, civil service pensions. If you look at the state even private companies normally most expenditure is payroll.

There are massive issues with supporting too many pensioners in the UK, but I would sort that out with NHS changes.

That's the rub.

while having to endure their culture and genetic heritage disappear

Nothing to do with the real issue of over population just racism.

England & France

Poland & Hungary

one nation, one religion.....helps to avoid a lot of bother.

Just ask the persecuted Jews & christians of North Africa to explain this very abstract idea to you....there's a good lad.
