5 at the back, 5 in midfield - 0-0 draw or a lucky one nil to them. None of our players deserve to be classed as strikers. I'd have thought you have to be able to make runs and shoot to be called that.

Loads of Villans could be out injured, let's hope clickbait is true for once!

Hopefully Zaha will be back for this and our attacks more fruitful. If so I predict a Palace victory 0-2

We'll defend well, be clueless in attack then eventually in the 60-70th minute when Eze is brought on he will score and we may just hold on to the lead this time.

Been unlucky in the last 2 matches could and should have had a further 4 points to the total.
I do think a 2-1 win to Palace this weekend as the next 3 matches if we get 1 point out of 9 will be doing well before onto the easier games!!!.

Villa fan here.

Really difficult to know how to call this as we're currently a team that performs better away than at home. that said, we do score goals and usually score very early on in games but its seeing out games that's an issue. Although much was made of the 11 goals in 3 games 7 of those were against man C and Arsenal - Arsenal's third was offside and the 4th was just chasing a goal. It was only Leicester where were horrible to watch defensively.

Hard to predict what will happen and I think a lot will rest on whether zaha is fit. He seems to always have some sort of influence on this fixture and he always seems to manage riling up Mings. I know you have potential threats elsewhere but I do think the only way for you to win if we're 'on it' is through Zaha.

saying that we aren't 'on it' nearly enough. Our position in the table reflects just where were are at the moment. Capable of beating teams and going on a run, and then capable of losing and similarly turning that into a bad run of defeats.

Its a shame for us that Coutinho got injured because he started to show that he had remembered he was once a great player. Bailey and Buendia will either be brilliant or anonymous and Watkins will cause problems. Not sure how you line up but our narrow 4 in midfield will look to stifle any opposition creativity and then counter. harder to do at home when you're expected to be on the front foot, and because of law of averages means that Watkins will stop scoring soon - 0-0 (Emery's first in the PL!)

Welcome Peter , I can’t say I’m too dissapointed Coutinho is injured …
As you say is going to be really hard to call, I think the law of averages says we are “due” a win , however we all know it’s not that simple, if you score early you could run away with it , if your looking to sit back and counter then it will end 0-0 as we will do the same and ball will stay in the middle of the park the whole game

Either way enjoy the game good luck for season apart from Saturday of course

Many thanks for the post, Peter. Palace are getting stronger defensively, but nothing showing going forward. So it either 1-0 to Villa, or another Palace bore draw.

Yes, hard to call mate. Thanks for posting. Best of luck - except against us of course. Used to live in West Midlands and Villa were as well supported as those big sides. I watch Galway at Eamon Deacy park, suspect you might have heard of him.

Yes, Eamonn Deacy is still held in some reverence by many from these parts. Great shame that he's no longer with us but at least he was part of the 14 from 80-81.
